FUNCTIONAL AREA: SUBSTANCE ABUSE
The Substance Abuse Technician provides professional-level support in the treatment and rehabilitation of individuals struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. This position delivers detoxification services, facilitates therapeutic activities, and monitors client progress in accordance with treatment plans. The technician works directly with clients and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to support recovery, education, and reintegration into the community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Obtain relevant information about clients through interview, assessment and case history; assist and support clients through addiction detoxification and recovery; observe, intervene and report client adherence to program goals and objectives.
Work in conjunction with other department staff to administer scheduled program curriculum and other activities utilized for treatment and rehabilitation of substance abuse.
Gather and research data utilized to track the reliability and validity of treatment that has been provided; make recommendations regarding modification of services and service delivery.
Process new clients, i.e., issuance of clothing, orientation to the rules of facilities and assist clients with daily activities, events and informational literature.
Will provide education to individuals and groups in the community and facilitate group presentations and workshops.
Transport clients to appointments and other service locations outside of assigned program.
Maintain progress notes and document behavioral incidents through observation of clients and maintain confidential records.
Participate in reviews of job performance and adhere to recommended measures for change.
Receive guidance and training from Program Supervisor within the division.
Maintain current knowledge base on counseling issues regarding substance abuse through conferences, educational training and networking with other agencies or groups.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned or required.

Job Description
The FDA Center for Tobacco Products requires the assistance of minors ages 16-17 and those under age 18-20 to attempt the purchase of tobacco products from local tobacco retailers. The goal of the program is to ensure tobacco retailers are complying with Federal laws and regulations that prevent them from selling tobacco products to minors. This will be a part-time, position working outside school hours and on some weekends.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· The Youth Participant will always be supervised and monitored by an FDA Commissioned Inspector during their work shift.
· The Youth Participant will receive training prior to conducting any purchase attempts.
· The Youth Participant will be driven to and from the tobacco retailer locations by the FDA Commissioned Inspector.
· The Youth Participant will attempt to purchase a tobacco product per the procedures provided within their training and the instructions provided by the FDA Commissioned Inspector.
· After the purchase attempt, the Youth Participant will leave the tobacco retailer with or without a purchased item.
· Purchased items will be immediately turned over to the FDA Commissioned Inspector.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Language: English Fluency (oral and written)
Age: Must be between 16 - 20 yrs and 10 months of age
Knowledge: Possess a strong work ethic. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Willingness to dress and look age appropriate.

This is a community-based position that serves residents of the Pueblo of San Felipe, in the 6th-9th grade age range, in a school setting. The incumbent provides a range of psychological assessment, diagnostic and therapeutic services for individuals, couples, groups, and families as directed.
Duties:
Provides individual, group, and/or family outpatient counseling, therapy and/or equine-assisted psychotherapy to clients and families as appropriate to the position; prepares assessments, treatment plans, discharge plans and follow-up care programs; provides therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as applicable.
Collects information about clients through assessment, observation, case history, and screenings as applicable; evaluates information to identify causes of presenting problems and make clinical recommendations as appropriate to clients needs.
Provides caseload management; prepares individualized services, referring to appropriate resources as needed.
Provides and/or arranges for therapeutic interventions (including equine-assisted psychotherapy) that best meet the needs of the client/family.
Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings: Mental Health Therapists, Substance Use Counselors, Peer Support Staff and other community partners as determined by supervisor.
Provides clinical support in crisis situations as determined by supervisor.
Co-facilitates with team members (e.g., Peer Support Workers, School Staff, medication prescribers, other clinicians)
Participates in the review of clinical issues and program policies and procedures.
Participates in training sessions and workshops to enhance or develop skills.
As Essential Staff may be required to be available for on-call duty coverage and must be prepared to work on days determined to be Tribal Holidays or Administrative Leave.
Qualifications:
No prior experience with Equine Therapy is required, although, an open-mind and willingness to learn is a must.
Experience practicing in a family-centered environment is desired.
Experience practicing in a culturally and linguistically diverse setting is desired.
Demonstrated understanding and acceptance of working as a member of a multidisciplinary team and familiarity with the wraparound approach to comprehensive community-based care.
Experience in collaborating with family members, youth and community cultural stakeholders through active involvement with the community
Demonstrated positive experience with:
Ability to apply mental health counseling methods and techniques.
Knowledge of community mental health resources including traditional modalities
Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures
Knowledge and understanding of clinical counseling principles, programs and methodology
Knowledge and understanding of clinical mental health counseling and social work principles, methods, procedures, and standards.
Ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic treatments and to make individual modification.
Ability to maintain an effective regimen of self-care.
Knowledge of psychological test administration, scoring and interpretation.
Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients rights.
Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
Experience with evidence-based treatments/practices, practice-based evidence, and community-defined evidence.
Openness and flexibility in tailoring the service/support delivery system to meet the clinical and cultural needs of the population of focus by being willing to listen and learn from the community itself through an inclusive planning process.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Keres-speaking appreciated or ability to work effectively in a multi-lingual environment with a translator.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including: Windows, Word, Access, and Excel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work requires driving and involves standing, bending, and walking within the community, schools, clinics, and homes and driving a car in all types of road conditions. Lifting and carrying is necessary to set up equipment for special events, clinics, and teaching programs.If located at the Equine Therapy Program, works in an outside Equine setting with horses, which may involve lifting and moving objects up to 20lbs.

Indoor/Outdoor:
The Equine Therapy Program requires interaction with horses and working in outdoor elements. The work sometimes requires driving and involves standing, bending, and walking. Lifting and carrying is sometimes necessary to set up equipment in preparation for sessions/trainings. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Exposure to outside weather in all seasons is necessary. Travel is often on unimproved roads. Exposure to infections and communicable disease is possible.

Eligible participants are youth and adults between the ages of 16 and 23 who have been involved with the New Mexico child welfare system through protective services, juvenile justice, or tribal social services, or are at risk for system involvement. This shall include youth or young adults that have turned 18 while in custody of the state or tribal child welfare system or that were adopted or placed in a guardianship following their 16th birthday.
Position Summary
The role of the Youth Care Specialist in the Young Adult Program has responsibility for directing and safely supervising the youth in our care by providing guidance in behavior choices by teaching social, self-help, academic and living skills.
Essential Job Duties
Ensure the safety and supervision of all youth in accordance with all operational and contractual requirements,
Serve as advisor and positive role model for youth in the program,
Act as a coach to youth to help them grow and develop in the areas of personal responsibility, social skills, community living skills, interpersonal communications and behavior,
Prevent and intervene in youth altercations and incidents, using the authorized state mandated training methods,
Effective use of the Behavior Modification System by providing redirection and coaching to youth,
Overnight Staff supervise youth during quiet and sleeping hours and conduct bed checks in accordance to established schedule,
Review Notes in Shift Log at beginning of every shift,
Complete required shift documentation at end of every shift,
Notify management immediately of problems and/or incidents,
Complete incident, accident and behavioral reports according to standard operating procedures,
Actively participate in debriefs at beginning and end of each shift; provide applicable Youth and Program updates and changes,
Ensure facility, equipment and supplies follow all laws, regulations and policies,
Teach youth how to maintain all equipment within compliance standards,
Maintain the repair and maintenance log and inventory of related equipment,
Administer first aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with the national standards,
May be required to participate in day and/or overnight trips, special activities that involve recreational sports, and may require extended 16-hour workdays/24 hour on-call status,
Attend and maintain appropriate crisis intervention and physical restraint training and certification as defined by state and contract requirements,
Attend and maintain CPR and First Aid certification by nationally recognized organization,
Drive program's vehicles as required in accordance with AMIkids transportation guidelines,
Attend all required training/professional development events and maintain all appropriate certifications and licenses.
Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience
Associate degree with three (3) years of experience working with children, families or youth; or High school diploma/GED with four (4) years of experience working with children, families or youth,
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related degree preferred;
