Per Diem SANE Clinician (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner)

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will handle the day-to-day activities of the Per Diem SANE nurse at Vera House, Inc., which includes on-call duties, examination and trauma informed care of the sexual assault victims and forensic kit and medical record management and supply organization. Travel to local emergency departments.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Weekday, weekend, evening, and overnight shifts required.
Respond to at least 60 hours of on-call shifts per month for sexual assault callouts in Onondaga County at four local hospital sites.
Serve as a liaison and build positive working relationships with community members and partnering agencies.
Establish and maintain clinical and legal records and chain of custody.
Ensure a warm and welcoming environment for all visitors.
Provide in court testimony regarding assessment, evidence collection and handling, a documentation of sexual assault.
Provide forensic exams for victims of sexual assault, including initial physical and behavioral assessment, clinical specimen/evidence collection and interventions for victims who have reported sexual assaults and when appropriate kit release to law enforcement.
Adhere to all Vera House policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Ensure that all services are maintained in accordance with the Agency’s mission and goals.
Assist in coordinating the provision of an urgent medical evaluation, follow-up care and crisis intervention resources.
As an integral member of the organization, this position is responsible to provide related assistance wherever necessary to help the Agency achieve their goals and embrace and promote the Vera House mission.
EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
NYS or accredited nursing license (RN) required, and completion of SANE education course.
One year of clinical nursing experience, preferred.

Must maintain updated health status regarding DT, hepatitis, PPD as well as other immunizations. Individual must be able to lift 20 pounds. The Children's Crisis Residence is a short-term, therapeutic residential program designed to support youth ages 10-17 experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental health crises. Under the direction of the School Age & Family Director, the Head of Group will plan, organize and lead a comprehensive thematic-based enrichment program. The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
· Plan, organize, and lead all daily SACC program activities. Lesson plans must be posted for parents and readily available for substitute staff.

· Work during vacation camp on a part-time or full-time basis, depending on the need. A minimum of three shifts will be required.
