    STATEMENT OF JOB: The Server is responsible for courteously serving resident and guest meals, and for clean-up and resetting of dining room following meal service. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Policies/Procedures/Administration Maintain a good working knowledge of all dining room and kitchen responsibilities and procedures Understands basic kitchen equipment operation (food processor, dishwasher, beverage machine, etc.) Maintain a clean work area in the kitchen, serving area, and dining room Understands proper table setting for each meal Residents: Assists residents when placing orders from the menu Provide beverage service (water, iced tea, juices, milk and coffee/tea) Refill salt/pepper/sugar bowls prior to and after each meal Report any broken equipment or tableware to supervisor Understands sit-down service and proper serving techniques Has a basic understanding of food preparation (salads, desserts, etc.) Knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques Sweep, mop, and vacuum kitchen and dining room Attends required in-services and staff meetings Completes all other duties assigned Must be attentive to special needs of residents including: mobility deficits, memory impairment, etc.) Assists with tray service Follows confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information Interacts in a polite considerate manner to residents, guests, co-workers and supervisors

About the Server Position: If you are friendly, sociable, love the elderly, love to smile, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, then this may be a job for you! The Server will... Inform the residents of the menu selections for the day and professionally present and serve resident meals with a high level of customer service and to their satisfaction. This position also requires staff to ensure the dining room is clean and welcoming. Greets and informs residents and guests of available menu selections. Takes residents and guests food order and assists them with meal selections if requested Present the meals to residents and guests in a friendly and pleasant manner. Always address residents by name and become knowledgeable of their likes and dislikes in food and beverages. Is alert and attentive to the residents' needs and to any problems from the residents, such as food dislikes, or service problems. Clears the table when residents are finished dining Bus tables when the meal has been completed and reset the tables as they become available Job Requirements: Must be at least 16 years of age Must like to smile, and smile often Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in the English Language Ability to read, write, speak and understand English Must have an interest in working with the elderly Must have the ability to work well under pressure, organize workloads, and meet time deadlines. Must have strong sense of timing and how to apply it to a serving structure Must display excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, both individually and as part of a team, and maintain a professional demeanor throughout the entire shift Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for short distances with or without reasonable accommodations Must be able to stand majority of the time, walk short distances, stoop for and reach for food.
