May be assigned to assume the duties of a charge technologist. Maintains supply inventories. * Trains new employees and acts as preceptor for laboratory students. * Operates laboratory information systems, personal computers, and instrument-related computer software. * Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. *Schedule: *2pm-10:30pm rotating weekends *General Requirements:* * Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or in Chemistry, Biology or related field. * One-year clinical internship in a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) accredited clinical laboratory science program or approved alternate career path that meets certification eligibility requirements. * Certification in one of the following: * Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). * Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT). * Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB). * A person may be hired into this position if he/she has completed the educational requirements and is eligible for the certification exam. Job Duties Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality. Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable). Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable. Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers. Assists or performs diagnostic, fluoroscopic, or interventional procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
