County National, however, reorganized in February of 1934 by virtue of a stock offering to existing depositors.
1942 — The National Bank of Blacksburg built and owned its first office.
1963 — Moved to the present Main Office on yet another corner of Main and Roanoke Streets.
To simplify growth into additional market areas, the name was changed to "County National Bank" in 1965.

On July 24, 1992, Jacksonville Savings and Loan Association changed its charter to a mutual savings bank and was renamed Jacksonville Savings Bank.
The Bank completed the construction of its new main office facility on West Morton in Jacksonville in December 1994.
On April 20, 1995, the Bank completed its first public stock offering, converting from its mutual ownership to a stock institution.
As our bank continued to grow during the latter half of the 20th century, operations expanded geographically. As a result, CNB opened a branch in Duncan Falls on December 12, 1996.
1996 — The Bank of Tazewell County (BTC) joins National Bankshares, Inc.
1997 — Opened the Rich Creek Office.
1998 — The National Bank of Blacksburg added another market area with the acquisition of a First American office in the City of Galax.
1999 — The bank opens its tenth banking location on the corner of Hubbard and South Main Streets.

County National Bank converted from a national banking charter to a state banking charter on December 29, 2006, officially changing its name to CNB Bank.
2006 ― The National Bank of Blacksburg and Bank of Tazewell County combine their operations to form National Bank, with 25 banking locations across Southwest Virginia.
August 2, 2007, CNB announced plans to acquire LyndonBank
As of the close of business on December 31, 2007, LyndonBank merged with and into Community National Bank and added Enosburg, Lyndonville and Morrisville offices
2009: Expanded options with free Rewards Checking with no minimum balance and interest paid on collected balances; launched GoMobile Banking and opened a CNB Facebook page and Twitter account
Following the acquisitions of a branch and another bank, by 2010 Carlinville National Bank had facilities in Carlinville, Clayton, MO, Hillsboro, Jacksonville, Oak Forest, and Pittsfield.
CNB continues its commitment to the community and to innovation, earning an “Outstanding” on our 2010 Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) exam, and launching Remote Deposit giving business clients the ability to make deposits from their offices by scanning checks with a CNB-provided scanner.

On October 11, 2013, CNB Financial Corporation acquired the eight branch bank, Farmers Citizens Bank, which was headquartered just north of Columbus in Bucyrus, Ohio.
In July, 2015, CNB Bank, completed a merger with Lake National Bank, a national bank in Mentor, Ohio with two branches.
At the close of business on July 17, 2015, the Broad Street Lyndonville office and the Federal Street St Johnsbury offices were closed and the other two offices in Caledonia County remain open
In November, 2016, a new bank named BankOnBuffalo was formed in Buffalo, New York.
2016 — National Bank opens its Roanoke Loan Production Office.
Doctor Alpha Applebee later served as President of the Association to be followed by his son, A. Wadsworth Applebee, and then his son, Andrew F. Applebee, who served as Chairman until 2018.
