General Purpose of Job The Courier is responsible for providing reliable and timely transportation of documents, supplies, and other essential items between Children's Network of Hillsborough offices, partner agencies, and community locations. This role supports the organization's mission by ensuring the safe and secure handling of materials that are critical to the delivery of child welfare services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Pick up and deliver packages, documents, and other items to designated locations. Follow delivery routes and time schedules efficiently. Load, transport, and unload items in a safe and secure manner. Obtain delivery confirmations and signatures as required. Communicate with agency identified point of contacts to confirm delivery instructions or address issues. Maintain delivery logs, receipts, and reports. Inspect and maintain the condition of the delivery vehicle. Adhere to all traffic and safety laws while operating the vehicle. Assist with office-related errands, light clerical tasks, or event setup as needed. Perform additional responsibilities and tasks assigned to support the overall operations and mission of Children's Network of Hillsborough. Working Hours CNHC's believes in work life balance for all employees. This is an in-office position with a field work requirements. Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm averaging forty (40) hours per week. Working hours may vary based on business needs. Travel Travel in and outside of Circuit 13 is required. Use of a personal vehicle will be required, and appropriate mileage will be reimbursed. Training All employees must complete fifteen (15) hours of on-line or classroom Training on an annual basis. If the employee is a Certified Child Welfare Professional, training hours must total twenty (20) annually. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have supervisory responsibilities Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred Ability to use smart phone and/or GPS for navigation purposes Customer service experience preferred Previous experience as a courier or delivery driver is an advantage Skills and Abilities Should possesses strong time management skills and is punctual, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. They demonstrate excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, along with a high level of trustworthiness to handle sensitive and confidential materials appropriately. The Courier follows detailed instructions accurately and adheres to delivery schedules consistently. Familiarity with GPS devices, routing apps, and basic smartphone use is essential. Strong interpersonal skills enable professional interaction with diverse staff, partners, and the public. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities or unexpected situations, as well as basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication, are also important for success in this role. Strong verbal communication skills are necessary to interact professionally with staff, community partners, and the public. The ability to write basic reports, complete delivery logs, and relay messages accurately is essential. Clear and respectful communication is expected at all times to support the agency's mission and maintain a positive public image. Mathematical Skills Basic math skills are required for this position, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers. The Courier must be able to calculate mileage, track delivery times, and complete basic documentation or logs accurately. Familiarity with reading maps, using GPS, and understanding simple numerical data related to routes or schedules is also essential. Reasoning Ability Must possess the ability to apply sound judgment and common sense when carrying out instructions, whether written or verbal. This role requires the capacity to problem-solve in real time-such as navigating route changes, handling unexpected delays, or resolving minor delivery issues-while maintaining professionalism and adherence to agency policies. The individual must be able to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and recognize when to seek guidance for non-routine matters. Physical Demands The physical demands of this position include the ability to sit and drive for extended periods, walk short distances, and occasionally lift and carry packages or materials weighing up to 40 pounds. The role requires frequent entering and exiting of a vehicle, bending, reaching, and carrying items to and from buildings. Candidates must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and may occasionally be exposed to varying weather conditions while performing duties. Work Environment The Courier position operates primarily in the field, with frequent travel between office locations, community agencies, and partner sites throughout Hillsborough County. While much of the work is independent, the Courier interacts regularly with staff, providers, and community partners, requiring professionalism and strong communication skills. The role also involves occasional in-office tasks in a standard professional office setting.
