Commercial Driver's License not required. Essential Job Functions Prepare merchandise for delivery. Verify receipts or load documentation and inventory availability. Inspect items for damage prior to loading. Compensation for this position starts at $23.25 per hour for any drivers requiring any or all components of CDL training and $25.00 per hour for drivers already holding (1) CDL Class A or B; (2) Air Brakes; AND (3) the Passengers endorsement. Preferred Qualifications: * At least 8-20 months of experience as a fixed-route transit bus driver or over-the-road charter bus driver is preferred. * Considerable customer service experience is highly preferred. * Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with Passengers and Air Brakes endorsements, with a good driving record reflected by possessing a positive point balance on license. * Ability to operate a transit vehicle. Knowledge of University Transit service routes and procedures. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Safe operation of a transit bus requires sustained sitting, driving, pushing/pulling (steering wheel and various controls), repetitive motion, use of both hands, use of either hand, fine finger manipulation, and wrist movement. Safe operation also includes repetitive motion with both ankles/feet, with both possessing the strength and dexterity to fully depress the service brake and accelerator (right), and turn signal controls (left) present on the transit bus units within the Parking and Transportation fleet. Boarding/alighting the transit bus requires the ability to climb stairs (at least one step up/down). Successful operation of ADA Accessible equipment aboard the transit bus requires bending, lifting, and carrying. All of these physical requirements should be considered essential to the position. Work performed during special events and as part of servicing the equipment requires standing, walking, and the potential for bending, lifting, and carrying.
