Courier job description

As a Courier, you will be responsible for pickup and delivery of mail, packages, linen, blood samples, fiscal data, deposit bags, legal papers, and other items as required to various locations within a 50-mile radius of Lawrence.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Drive Hospital vehicle to perform a variety of errands. • Picks up and delivers mail to post office. • Delivers medical records to courthouses at times designated by court. • Delivers or picks up medical equipment between hospitals as required by nursing. • Delivers medical records to other hospitals as required - including facilities in the Boston area. • Makes bank deposits and Lawrence and picks up executive payroll and petty cash requests. • Makes pickups or deliveries for other departments as booked through the Purchasing Department • Transports specimens between offsite locations and the hospital. • Delivers linen and supplies to offsite locations that are affiliated with the hospital. Soiled linen will be picked up and brought to designated areas by the courier as well. • Contributes to productive and efficient operation of MDC & Purchasing Departments • Set up vehicle on regular preventative maintenance program and inform Purchasing Manager of scheduled maintenance. • Cross trains in Mail room and MDC.

EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lift heavy objects Driver's License (in good standing)

Preferred: Four months hospital or related experience.

We are currently hiring on call Courier / Dockworkers . As a Courier / Dockworker you would follow standard company procedures and safety requirements to pick up and deliver time sensitive materials in a timely and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

• Under tight deadlines, drives vehicle to customer sites, climbs in and out of vehicle, and walks up and down stairs as required to pick up and deliver documents and packages to and from customers according to established procedures, in all weather conditions
• Picks up, handles and delivers time sensitive documents and packages in a safe and punctual manner considering traffic patterns, alternative routes, traffic regulations, and driving conditions in order to meet customer and DHL time requirements
• Ensures all delivery material received is safely delivered to correct consignee
• Operates a scanner to record shipping and package information for documents/packages picked up or delivered
• Maintains good work habits, including reporting to work on time and adhering to standard work and safety procedures
• Reports any suspected breach of security or unusual happenings to supervisor immediately
• May assist supervisor in orienting, training, assigning and checking the work of lower level courier
• May assist supervisor in performing check rides to review performance and the proper use of routes and practices

The Courier Driver, Distribution Logistics is responsible for transporting time sensitive reports, documents and other materials to our home delivery distribution centers (depots). This position will also make a variety of special deliveries as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for compliance and knowledge with Federal Department of Transportation regulation and other safety standards.Perform a variety of driving duties including printed and other materials to our distribution centers (depots), the pickup and delivery of preprints, racks and other special assignments as needed.Assist the department in maintain a safe and compliant CMV fleet.Operate trucks in accordance with established safety policies, procedures and guidelines Ensure load accuracy Unload & deliver product accurately and in accordance with established delivery guidelines Understand & follow delivery run sheets, loading manifests, and other delivery documents Complete daily Driver Vehicle Condition Report (DVCR) Maintain a clean & orderly work environment according to established policies & procedures Ability to read and understand maps and delivery lists Ability to work efficiently

Position Requirements/Qualifications :
Skilled at driving safely in all weather conditions Strong knowledge of Unite States Postal Service procedures. Skilled at driving a commercial motor vehicle in all weather conditions. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and follow through on projects with a minimum of specific instruction; ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-oriented environment. Clean and valid NY State driver's license. Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) a plus.
