Responsibilities Operates company owned or rented vehicles in a safe manner to transport discharged patients or materials in various packaged forms to and from specified destinations in all types of weather. Picks up items from various locations in each unit and loads vehicle using hand truck, dolly, etc. Assures that all items are loaded on the vehicle and delivered to the proper location. Documents on log sheet incubator temperature at specified intervals and adjusts incubators according to specifications. Picks up discharged patients at the front entrance of the hospital using the wheelchair lift and secures the patient in place. When transporting discharged patients the courier will complete the Transportation Log and turn it in to their director daily. Maintains schedule of pickup and deliveries as determined by the supervisor, applying knowledge of driving regulations and roads in the area. Notifies customers on route when arrival time will not be consistent with established schedule. Unloads vehicle and delivers items to specified locations in each unit using hand truck, dolly, etc. Completes sections of vehicle log sheet and/or trip ticket form. Inspects vehicle, reports condition, and arranges for repair and maintenance, safety inspections, and vehicle license as required and approved. Maintains vehicles with correct amount of fluids and adjust fluids as necessary. Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, spark plugs, etc. Cleans interior and exterior of vehicle including waxing. Performs other related duties as assigned within the scope of the job classification. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum Work Experience Minimum of one (1) year driving experience required, truck experience is desired. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Must have good, safe driving record.
