Minimum Qualifications:
* Three years of progressively responsible experience within a legal or court environment which includes a minimum of one year of experience directly related to the work of the class.
* Paralegal certificate of proficiency or Associate's degree may be substituted for up to two years of experience.
* Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
Success in this position requires:
* Demonstrate knowledge of policies, procedures, and practices applicable to the court;
* Advanced technological skills in computer programs and applications;
* Ability to work with minimum supervision while independently coordinating multiple tasks to accomplish workload and meet unexpected demands;
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, management and peers, as well as the general public served by the department;
* Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and to adhere to ethical conduct;
* Effective communication and conflict resolution skills;
* Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment under stressful circumstances.

Examples of Duties
As a Judicial Proceedings Specialist, your typical daily responsibilities will be to:
* Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate court hearings;
* Maintain digital record of proceedings, hold and facilitate virtual and in-person court hearings, manage live internet streaming of courtroom proceedings;
* Create, receive, and record all legal documents and exhibits filed in open court;
* Enter, retrieve, and update information on the statewide judicial database relating to individual cases and calendars;
* Report individual court records to other agencies;
* Issue warrants, summons, notices for hearing, and other legal documents ordered by the court;
* Provide information to the public, co-workers, and outside agencies concerning case or court process-related information;
* Participate in daily team assignments in support of Court's operations;
* Actively advance District Court's mission and vision by promoting the culture of learning, innovation, inclusion, and respect.

Court Monitoring Specialist (Part-Time) - Monticello, IL

Join a dynamic team working to defeat the devastating consequences of drunk and impaired driving within our community! As a Court Monitor, you will maintain a consistent courtroom presence for misdemeanor DWI cases, review court records, collect and report accurate data, and assist in identifying potential obstacles in court sentencing and DWI prosecution.
This is a part-time remote position that will require the selected candidate to reside in the general Monticello, Illinois area.
This job involves weekly visits to one of the four assigned courthouses-Champaign, Vermilion, Sangamon, and Macon County Courthouse-while maintaining a consistent and balanced presence at each location throughout the year.
This position pays $21.62/ hour at 29 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Collect, compile & report accurate and complete data on a timely basis according to program and or grant requirements
Build relationships with court personnel including but not limited to bailiffs, clerks, Assistant State's Attorneys
Monitor designated court procedures involved in hearings, trials, and sentencing within a courtroom setting
Lead Victim Impact Panels at the Champaign County Courthouse 3-4 times per year
Maintain regular oral and/or written communication with Supervisor as required
Attend at least two community events during each grant cycle
Recruit volunteers from across the state
Conduct volunteer interviews
Process background checks
Start the onboarding/training process
Assign the volunteer to the appropriate Court Monitoring Specialist based on geographic location
Recruit, train, support and maintain a solid volunteer base for proper data collection
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent with 2-4 years professional business experience required. Legal background preferred.
Proficient networking ability.
Must be able to travel and maintain a flexible schedule.
Strong organizational skills, be detail oriented with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects and execute in a high-volume environment.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop and convey thoughts clearly, logically and concisely both orally and in writing, using appropriate grammar and command of the English language.
Ability to work both independently and with others to resolve issues and maintain composure and professionalism in an environment of changing and/or multiple priorities.
Must be able to work on a time table, meet deadlines, follow instructions and accept direction on given assignments.
Strong work ethic with the ability to maintain a high activity level.
Must have exceptional internal and external customer service orientation.
