POSITION SUMMARY: Cardenas Markets is seeking a retail store Meat Clerk to join our team. The Meat Clerk is responsible for washing, inspecting, and rotating all meat products, along with ensuring displays are stocked with new merchandise and ensuring expirations are up to date. The Meat Clerk must possess strong teamwork and customer service skills. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: * Work professionally as part of the team and provide excellent customer service; * Verify prices, hang current sales signs, and removes out-of-date sales signs; * Order and inventory required meats, seafood, and poultry; * Sell products by providing customers with information needed to make product-related decisions; * Ensure neat appearance of department and meat displays; * Comply with sanitation and health guidelines. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: * Valid Food Handlers Card; * Prior food preparer experience at a grocery store preferred; * Must be friendly and people oriented; * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year experience, forklift certification a plus. Some essential duties include: Processes all in and inbound and outtboundshipments including but not limited to sorting, logging, delivering, packing and shipping. Audits each shipment prior to packing to ensure that goods match order and are in compliance with inter-state requirements. Packs and labels product based on established standards. Prepares shipping and receiving documentation; maintains orderly files for all documentation. Processes all receiving transactions and paperwork. Inspects all incoming freight for damage. Assists in maintaining material inventory levels. Assist in responses to requests for tracing of missing shipments. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: One to two years' related experience in inventory or retail work preferred. Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and stand on concrete floors during scheduled shifts of 8 to 10 hours. Ability to push, pull, reach, bend and twist through the shift, working at varying heights.
