ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintain a high level of cleanliness on assigned vehicle(s).

Requirements
Basic writing, reading and communications skills as acquired through a high school diploma or higher. Able to read and understand transportation instructions, safety rules and regulations, and to make written and oral reports to supervisors.

🎯 What You'll Do in This Role:
We're looking for a compassionate and safety-minded Per Diem (flex) van Driver to join our team in providing reliable, door-to-door transportation for our participants. This role requires a respectful and patient approach, with a strong emphasis on preserving the dignity and comfort of those we serve. The Van Driver will operate a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, assisting passengers in and out of the van as needed. Flexibility is essential, as the schedule may include early mornings and occasional weekends.
Primary Responsibilities:
Vehicle Operation & Safety
Safely operate a wheelchair-accessible van to transport participants to scheduled appointments and destinations.
Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs promptly.
Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including seatbelt use and proper lift/ramp operation.
Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the van interior and exterior.
Participant Assistance & Care
Assist participants in boarding and exiting the vehicle, including securing wheelchairs using appropriate systems.
Provide courteous and respectful interaction with all passengers, demonstrating patience and empathy.
Respond appropriately to emergencies, including calling for help and providing basic first aid if trained.
Scheduling & Communication

Education & Certification

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Driver is responsible for transporting clients to and from various medical appointments and other appointments as needed. The Driver completes assignments and all paperwork in a timely fashion. DUTIES
Responsible for transporting individuals with and without disabilities to various locations. This would include picking them up at their residence, driving them to their required location and picking them back up to take them to their residence.
Responsible to review and check transportation schedule before departure and to bring to the attention of dispatch and/or the coordinator any issues or concerns
Performs vehicle inspections and maintenance. This includes ensuring the vehicles have the appropriate amount of gas, oil, antifreeze, windshield washer fluid, and that the handicap accessibility equipment is functional.
Cleans the interior and exterior of the TSA vehicle as needed and directed.
Notifies manager when the vehicle is in need of repair or service.
Maintains a driving log and keeps track of mileage on the TSA vehicle.
Inspects and completes an inspection form before departure and/or when changing vehicles. Ensures that safety equipment is on-board and vehicle including tires are in good operating condition.
Makes copies and properly files all completed driver's reports, transportation requests, and vehicle inspection forms.
Maintains contact with dispatch at all times, agency-issued cell phone must be charged daily and in good working order at all times. If cell phone is lost or damaged the driver must report this immediately to the department manager.
Ensures that any accident/incident is reported immediately upon return to the building, within one hour after the event. A written accident/incident report must be completed and submitted to the manager within 24 hours.
Provides assistance to passenger with disabilities.
Makes any necessary changes, and notifies customers of any changes in arrival/departure times.
Responsible for maintaining good customer relations and services.
Must follow and abide by all driving laws including seat belt usage.
Handles other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE This position requires a High School Diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience in driving a van or bus. Experience with working with the senior population is a plus. REQUIREMENTS The individual must possess good driving skills as well as good communication skills (both written and verbal). The Driver should be familiar with the geographic layout of Wayne County with regards to streets, expressways, etc. Must know how to get to both VA hospitals and the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. A valid Michigan Chauffer's license is required. Preference will be given to those who have a CDL licensure, Class B with passenger endorsement. Must be able to operate equipment such as cell phone/two way radios, GPS Systems and general office equipment. Driver must be First Aid/CPR Certified and be able to operate an AED. Heaving lifting is required.
The Driver is responsible for improving CFH patients' access to healthcare services by providing transportation that is compassionate, safe, efficient, and accessible.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Safely transport CFH patients from one destination to another as instructed through scheduled directions.
Utilize phone and scheduling software to confirm pick-up and drop-off times, track routes, and communicate any delays or changes in transportation schedules.
Perform daily inspections of CFH vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition, including checking tire pressure, fuel levels, and cleanliness.
Immediately report any vehicle malfunctions or maintenance needs to CFH for timely resolution.
Report any incidents, accidents, or unsafe conditions immediately to CFH leadership, following proper protocols for incident documentation.
Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations to ensure the safety of themselves, patients, and other road users.
Assist with prescription deliveries by collaborating with CFH pharmacy and Community Health Workers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of medications to patients.
Foster a positive and respectful relationship with patients, contributing to their overall satisfaction with CFH services.
Collaborate and communicate with the patient care team to ensure smooth and supportive transportation, contributing to the overall patient experience and care.
Remain adaptable and responsive to patient needs, ensuring their transportation experience aligns with CFH's commitment to quality care.
Participate in training and development sessions to stay current on CFH policies, patient care procedures, and other relevant topics.
Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work practices and instructions.
Education/Training/Experience:
Must have a minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
Chauffeurs license or the ability to obtain one.
Minimum of 1-year experience driving in similar capacity preferred.
