Norman Shaw, in full Richard Norman Shaw, (born May 7, 1831, Edinburgh, Scot.—died Nov.
He subsequently entered the office of George Edmund Street, beginning an independent practice in 1862.
In the field of town planning, the garden suburb laid out by Shaw in 1876 at Bedford Park (now on the western side of London) was the first of its kind and was influential on the development of suburban planning.
In 1979, Alflen explored care facilities for his father and found there wasn't much available other than multiple-story buildings with hospital beds, tile floors, long, narrow hallways and UV lighting.
When Courtyard Manor of Wixom opened in 1987, its elderly residents felt right at home and rooms filled quickly.
