2 Dogwood, Oncology, Post Surgical Unit:
Parkwest's Oncology-Gynecological-Surgical unit consists of 36 beds inside our most recent expansion, the Dogwood Tower, which opened in December 2019. Our Oncology and Post-Surgical Unit at Parkwest houses patients with a variety of medical diagnoses and also serves as a general post-surgical floor. We specialize in oncological care and are strongly passionate in providing a healing environment for our patients while maximizing our clinical quality and efficiency. Once experienced on our floor, our nurses can undergo training to administer chemotherapy to further care for our oncology population.
We also care for post-op surgery patients who will need surgical incision care, drain care, ostomy and ileal conduit care, blood product, and TPN administration. Among a skilled-interdisciplinary group, the RN serves as a guide, healer, collaborator, teacher, leader, and sentry to their patients.
Staff members include RN's, LPN's, Certified Nursing Assistants, Patient Care Assistants and Health Unit Coordinators who work together to provide exceptional patient care. Our department is high energy, team oriented and customer satisfaction focused. We currently use a preferred self-scheduling model that covers a six-week period. Staff work three 12-hour shifts per week with an every-other-weekend rotation and every other major holiday.

Our 16-bed Senior Behavioral Unit serves older adults ages 55 and older. We focus on the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of each patient. Our team provides services for a wide range of psychiatric diagnosis including Dementia, Depression, Suicide, Schizophrenia, and Bipolar Disorders. We provide stabilization in an acute care setting involving EKGs, daily labs, intravenous fluids or antibiotics. Parkwest's 3 Dogwood is a 36-bed unit specializing in Orthopedic Joint/Spine and Bariatrics. It is located inside our most recent expansion, the Dogwood Tower, which opened in December 2019. 3 Dogwood is a fast-paced unit with an average stay of 23 hours or less for the Joint and Bariatric patients.
A typical day on this unit may include pain management and drain monitoring to mobilizing a patient day-of surgery and sending them home! Parkwest's orthopedic and spine program have been recognized both nationally and regionally for excellent outcomes and outstanding quality. The most engaging part about 3 Dogwood is the teamwork. Nurses on our orthopedic-spine, bariatric unit are members of an integral team of health professionals including RNs, LPNs, SNAs, CNAs, HUCs, PTs, OTs and Clinical Dietitians. Unit B:
Unit B is an 87-bed unit, divided into two separate “Tracks.” Track 1 is a 44-bed area that cares primarily for adult patients with mood disorders and/or chemical dependency issues. Track 2 is a 43-bed area that cares primarily for adult patients with thought disorders and/or chemical dependency issues. Unit B is a busy and exciting area to work where you will be exposed to patients dealing with a wide variety of psychiatric conditions. Staff may also work on other units in the hospital, offering the opportunity to work with many different types of patients. The care team consists of physicians, therapists, discharge planners, registered nurses, psychiatric technicians, and others who work together to develop a comprehensive treatment outline and care plan. We have a great team on the unit who all work together to provide excellent care for our patients in a safe, therapeutic environment.This unit creates a 6-week schedule which is released two weeks before the schedule starts.
