Provides morning or evening care, which may include bed bath, oral hygiene, combing hair, back care, dressing patient, changing bed linen, cleaning over-bed table and bedside stand, straightening room, and other supportive care as needed.
Empty drains, canisters, urine bags, bedpans and emesis basins and record intake and output.
Assists in maintaining a safe environment, which may include reporting equipment that is out of order, appropriate handling of linen and storing of supplies.
Provides general care such as positioning, lifting or turning patients; assisting in use of bedpan, urinal or commode; preoperative supportive care; and application/removal of abdominal binders or anti-embolism stockings and sequential compression devices.
Empty & clean ostomy bag, per procedure.
Collect urine, stool and sputum specimen as ordered.
Perform tasks such as ROM, assist with ambulatory devices as specified by the patients' plan of care.
Perform phlebotomy (requires additional training). To include correct labeling using two patient identifiers, maintenance of lab-draw supplies, rotating and restocking.
Perform EKG (requires special training).
Promptly answer patient call lights and respond to patient requests.
Report significant changes in patients' condition to RN.
Help to maintain clean and orderly patient and work environment.
Employ all established infection control policies including standard precautions, transmission-based isolation precautions, OSHA standards, safety measures and proper body mechanics in performance of job.
Document/maintain patient record as appropriate.
Gathers equipment for O2 set up. Checks O2 for connection and proper placement.
Checks for proper functioning of equipment at patient bedside

Qualifications
Minimum Education:

3 Riverstone, Cardiac Specialty Unit:
The Cardiac Specialty Unit consists of 33 telemetry beds.
Specialized care is delivered on The Cardiac Specialty Unit to patients presenting with chest pain or unstable angina, as well as those recovering from placement of cardiac stents, permanent pacemakers, or AICDs.
The top three admitting diagnoses for 3 Riverstone are Coronary Atherosclerosis, Intermediate Coronary Syndrome, and Cardiac Dysrhythmias.
We have long-term staff members because of our culture and teamwork on the floor. The physicians see this as well and trust the judgment of our team.
Our team includes high quality RNs, Patient Care Assistants and Health Unit Coordinators. Our staff work 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week and rotate every other weekend and holiday. We have a modified self-scheduling model that covers a six-week period to allow for flexibility. As a caregiver in Parkwest Medical Center's Complex Medical Unit, 4 Riverstone, you will meet daily challenges of caring for patients with a wide array of medical conditions. These subspecialties include nephrology, hepatology, immunology, infectious disease, endocrinology, gastroenterology, psychiatry, and geriatrics. Nurses on 4 Riverstone have a unique opportunity to work within a collaborative framework with an interdisciplinary team. Patients often have multiple diagnoses including, but not limited to, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, acute and chronic renal failure, cellulitis, gastrointestinal bleeds, acute and chronic liver failure, and other generalized medical conditions. Discharge planning is an important component of the patient's care; nurses collaborate daily with case managers, social workers, pharmacists, and therapists to develop individual patient care plans. 4 Riverstone provides a professional and stimulating environment where critical thinking, problem solving, and teamwork is both nurtured and expected.
Staff members include RN's, LPN's, Certified Nurse Assistants, Patient Care Assistants, and Health Unit Coordinators who work together to provide exceptional patient care. Our department is high energy, team orientated, and customer satisfaction is a high priority. We currently use a self-scheduling module that covers a six-week period. 2 Dogwood, Oncology, Post Surgical Unit:
Parkwest's Oncology-Gynecological-Surgical unit consists of 36 beds inside our most recent expansion, the Dogwood Tower, which opened in December 2019. Our Oncology and Post-Surgical Unit at Parkwest houses patients with a variety of medical diagnoses and also serves as a general post-surgical floor. We specialize in oncological care and are strongly passionate in providing a healing environment for our patients while maximizing our clinical quality and efficiency. Once experienced on our floor, our nurses can undergo training to administer chemotherapy to further care for our oncology population.
We also care for post-op surgery patients who will need surgical incision care, drain care, ostomy and ileal conduit care, blood product, and TPN administration. Among a skilled-interdisciplinary group, the RN serves as a guide, healer, collaborator, teacher, leader, and sentry to their patients.
Staff members include RN's, LPN's, Certified Nursing Assistants, Patient Care Assistants and Health Unit Coordinators who work together to provide exceptional patient care. 2 Riverstone, Critical Care Unit:
Parkwest Critical Care Unit (CCU) is located on the second floor of Parkwest Medical Center's main hospital. As one of the area's top-performing heart hospitals, we take great pride in providing exceptional care and timely treatment to our patients.
The CCU is a 30-bed department comprised of 20 medical, surgical, neurological, and renal beds and 10 dedicated Cardiovascular Intensive Care (CVICU) beds. The department is a locked unit for the safety and privacy of our critically ill patients. We specialize in high-level care to critically ill patients with life-threatening conditions, including Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT). Our CVICU specializes in the care of patients requiring Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) procedures, Impellas, and Intra-aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP).
We follow a 12- hour shift, weekends/holidays on a six-week schedule. Team members utilize a self-scheduling model, and employee requests are then used during the scheduling process to balance and coordinate with the department's needs.

2 Montvue, Step-down Unit:
2 Montvue is Parkwest's Medical Step-Down Unit that serves patients requiring step-down status due to higher acuity conditions and the need for increased monitoring. Patient diagnoses include respiratory failure, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleed, arrhythmias, hypertensive urgency, electrolyte imbalance, NSTEMI, pulmonary embolus, altered mental status, seizures, substance withdrawal, and strokes and other diagnosis requiring increased care.
The Step-down Unit accepts patients on a variety of intravenous drips that require titrations and frequent monitoring of vital signs, as well as tracheostomy ventilator patients. The unit provides patients with nursing care, medical monitoring, and an array of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Bed side report and daily rounding with a multidisciplinary team allow for excellent patient care.
You will find an energetic team made up of Registered Nurses, Patient Care Assistants and Health Unit Coordinators who are team oriented, morale boosters and have been deemed by students as "The most welcoming unit". The Medical Step-down unit uses a modified six-week self-scheduling model with an every other weekend requirement.

3 Riverstone, Cardiac Specialty Unit:
The Cardiac Specialty Unit consists of 33 telemetry beds.
Specialized care is delivered on The Cardiac Specialty Unit to patients presenting with chest pain or unstable angina, as well as those recovering from placement of cardiac stents, permanent pacemakers, or AICDs.
The top three admitting diagnoses for 3 Riverstone are Coronary Atherosclerosis, Intermediate Coronary Syndrome, and Cardiac Dysrhythmias.
We have long-term staff members because of our culture and teamwork on the floor. The physicians see this as well and trust the judgment of our team.
Our team includes high quality RNs, Patient Care Assistants and Health Unit Coordinators. Our staff work 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week and rotate every other weekend and holiday. We have a modified self-scheduling model that covers a six-week period to allow for flexibility. 2 Dogwood, Oncology, Post Surgical Unit:
Parkwest's Oncology-Gynecological-Surgical unit consists of 36 beds inside our most recent expansion, the Dogwood Tower, which opened in December 2019. Our Oncology and Post-Surgical Unit at Parkwest houses patients with a variety of medical diagnoses and also serves as a general post-surgical floor. We specialize in oncological care and are strongly passionate in providing a healing environment for our patients while maximizing our clinical quality and efficiency. Once experienced on our floor, our nurses can undergo training to administer chemotherapy to further care for our oncology population.
We also care for post-op surgery patients who will need surgical incision care, drain care, ostomy and ileal conduit care, blood product, and TPN administration. Among a skilled-interdisciplinary group, the RN serves as a guide, healer, collaborator, teacher, leader, and sentry to their patients.
Staff members include RN's, LPN's, Certified Nursing Assistants, Patient Care Assistants and Health Unit Coordinators who work together to provide exceptional patient care. Our department is high energy, team oriented and customer satisfaction focused. We currently use a preferred self-scheduling model that covers a six-week period. Staff work three 12-hour shifts per week with an every-other-weekend rotation and every other major holiday.

Provides morning or evening care, which may include bed bath, oral hygiene, combing hair, back care, dressing patient, changing bed linen, cleaning over-bed table and bedside stand, straightening room, and other supportive care as needed.
Empty drains, canisters, urine bags, bedpans and emesis basins and record intake and output.
Assists in maintaining a safe environment, which may include reporting equipment that is out of order, appropriate handling of linen and storing of supplies.
Provides general care such as positioning, lifting or turning patients; assisting in use of bedpan, urinal or commode; preoperative supportive care; and application/removal of abdominal binders or anti-embolism stockings and sequential compression devices.

Collect urine, stool and sputum specimen as ordered.
Perform tasks such as ROM, assist with ambulatory devices as specified by the patients' plan of care.
