On May 29, 1997, Saginaw General Hospital selected St Luke's Healthcare Association, a long-time neighbor, as the organization to merge with.
1997 – In December, the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart, the Servants of the Holy Heart of Mary, and the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas created Provena Health, and a new era of growth began.
Covenant Health is a member of St Joseph Health, one of the most successful not-for-profit health systems in the United States. It was founded in 1998 through the merger of two of Lubbock's most venerable heath care facilities, St Mary of the Plains Hospital and Lubbock Methodist Hospital System.
2001 - Covenant Children’s Hospital began the region’s only pediatric cardiothoracic surgery program with ECMO capability.
2003 – Covenant pediatric cardiologists are the first in region to perform a Secundum Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) closure using a septal occluder, allowing some pediatric heart patients to avoid heart surgery.
2004 – Covenant announces plans to relocate women’s and children’s services and expand oncology and orthopedic services at the Lakeside Campus.
2004 – Covenant and AeroCare first in region to offer state-of-the-art baby pods for safe pediatric air ambulance transport.
2005 – Covenant is first in region to offer 4D ultrasound capability for prenatal care.
2006 – Covenant partners with Ronald McDonald House to open a Ronald McDonald Family Room.
2006 – Isom Heart Center for Children renamed in honor of Idalou-native O. Wayne Isom, M.D.
In 2007, Rome authorized the Grey Nuns to hand over these remaining Powers to the Covenant Board of Governors, thus the Covenant Board of Directors today is both the Civil Board and a self –perpetuating Public Juridic Person (Sponsor) according to Canon Law, the law of the Church.
2007 – New NICU opens, offering 34 licensed beds and family-centered features such as dismissed preparation rooms for parents.
2011 – In November, through the merger of Provena Health and Resurrection Health Care, Presence Health was created.
2012 – Announcement of dedicated CEO for Covenant Children's, Chris Dougherty
Windows have to be removed in the former Emergency Department lobby for the delivery of the MRI, which was delivered December 27, 2013.
Sartori Memorial Hospital earns a 2017 Pres Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award in November.
2018 – In February, the Sisters of the Third Order of St Francis renamed Presence Covenant Medical Center to OSF HealthCare Heart of Mary Medical Center to honor the legacy of the Servants of the Holy Heart of Mary.
