The story of the worldwide specialty chemical provider Coventya dates back to 1927, when four aviation pioneers started their venture of anti-corrosive surface treatment production.
In 1930, Continentale Parker signed a distributor agreement with Udylite and began selling bright cyanide Cadmium, one of the early processes of electroplating, in Europe.
In 1965, the German group Metallgesellschaft AG acquired most of the shares of Société Continentale Parker.
The 1980’s saw steady growth of the Electroplating Division.
Later on, it was integrated into Chemetall GmbH, created in 1984 in order to regroup all of its specialty chemicals activities.
The internationalization began with the setting-up of electroplating departments in Chemetall Benelux and Spain, followed in 1988 by a new external development policy targeted towards Western Europe:
The group eliminated the diversity of names by creating a new single identity in 1998: Chemetall Plating Technologies.
In 2000, COVENTYA was formed through the acquisition of the Chemetall Plating Business Unit by key managers and a Private Equity Company.
