Heartland Express is led by Michael Gerdin, who started his career with Heartland in 1983 as a teenager working in the truck wash bay. From 1998 to 2001, Mike was President of A&M Express, a wholly owned subsidiary of Heartland Express. In 2001 Michael was appointed to Vice-President of Regional Operations, and in 2006 he was appointed to President of the Company. Mike earned his BA degree in Business Management from Luther College.

Rollie served in the United States Air Force from 1969-72, where he was chief of data automation. After serving in the Air Force, Rollie returned to Anderson Trucking Service (ATS) and began managing K&W Transportation while working alongside his father, Harold, on ATS-related work. He did so until ATS sold K&W in 1994 when he fully transitioned into his current role. Rollie has served as ATS’ CEO since 2001. Prior to his military service, Rollie was helping with various tasks at ATS beginning at the age of 14. Rollie enjoys being involved in numerous community organizations throughout central Minnesota. Outside of community involvement, he also spends much of his free time hunting, fishing and spending time with his five grandchildren. Rollie attended the University of Minnesota, where he earned degrees in Business Administration and Math and Economics.

Todd Smith is a President/CEO at Arnold Transportation Services and is based in Dallas/Fort Worth Area. He works or has worked at BURLINGTON NORTHERN SANTA FE, LLC. Todd studied at Iowa State University - College of Business and Sigma Gamma Tau National Honor Society in Aerospace Engineering.

John Simourian II, President and CEO, started with the company over 20 years ago. John is a graduate of Bates College as well as the executive education programs at Harvard and Stanford Business Schools. John has served on the Board of The Center for Quality of Management (CQM), and the Board of Governors for the National Private Truck Council (NPTC).

Steven Chapman is a Chairman at ITA Group, Vice Chairman/COO at RUAN TRANSPORT CORPORATION, and Board Member at Ruan Transportation Mgmt. Systems. He has worked as Chief Executive Officer at Ruan Transportation Mgmt. Systems, Board Member at West Bank, and Chief Executive Officer at RUAN TRANSPORT CORPORATION.
