Job Description
This part-time, seasonal position will serve as teaching artist in the Chautauqua Arts Education Young Playwrights Project (YPP). This program is a 3-phase program. Phase 1 involves school visits where the YPP Teaching Artists present an assembly followed by an in-class lesson for each classroom at each participating school that teaches 3rd and 4th grade students how to write a play. Phase 2 involves YPP Teaching Artists leading teams of volunteers as they rehearse and then stage a play reading in each participating classroom. Phase 3 involves students visiting Chautauqua Institution to see a select number of plays chosen from all submitted, with the Teaching Artists serving as the performing theater company.
The YPP Teaching Artist/Actor will work under the leadership of the Young Playwrights Project Lead Teaching Artist/Director of Plays to implement the program curriculum in the schools. This person will also serve as actor in the Phase 3 plays, working with the Young Playwrights Project Lead Teaching Artist/Director of Plays to present the final performances of student plays. This position will report to the Director of Arts Education.

Position Summary
The part-time Learning & Engagement Coordinator reports to the Director of Learning and Engagement and collaborates closely with the Public Programs Manager to plan, coordinate, facilitate, and document weekly programs for children and families during Storm King's season (April through November). With a primary focus on onsite, family-focused programs, the Coordinator will also coordinate some programs for families in the community, and occasional off-season programs for a variety of audiences.
Programs for children and families at Storm King offer a variety of multigenerational, hands-on opportunities to explore art and nature, often facilitated by artists and outdoor educators. Programs are designed to encourage experimentation and close looking and prioritize process and exploration. Community partnership programs, both onsite and offsite, deepen relationships with our neighbors and foster reciprocal learning and audience development. Off-season programming expands opportunities for audiences of all ages to engage with the art and landscape at Storm King.
During Storm King's season, the Coordinator will work Sundays to staff weekly Children & Families programs, with additional hours scheduled on weekdays for a total of 20 hours weekly.

Responsibilities
The part-time Learning & Engagement Coordinator responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Children & Families Public Programs
Coordinate a dynamic and balanced roster of children and families programs, primarily held on Sundays, with occasional weekday, Saturdays, evenings, and off-season events. Coordinate staffing, supplies, and logistical needs for each program.
Manage the calendar and scheduling for freelance teaching artists.
Develop and facilitate drop-in family tours and activities throughout the season.
Draft program descriptions for print and digital use; liaise with the Communications team on program promotion.
Maintain up to date internal and public calendars.
Work closely with Visitor Engagement staff to ensure smooth onsite operations.
Track program budgets and process invoices.
Collect, review, and document qualitative feedback from program attendees, educators, and staff.
Maintain records of past programs and track ongoing participation statistics.
Coordinate a Request for Proposals (RFP) every 2-3 years to refresh the teaching artist pool.
Ensure that programs uphold Storm King's commitment to inclusion and accessibility.
Community Partnerships and Programs
Lead tours and hands-on activities both onsite and in the Newburgh and Cornwall communities.
Identify opportunities for offsite programming and maintain relationships with relevant local organizations.
Coordinate staffing, supplies, and logistics for community programs.
Maintain detailed records of partnership activities and collect partner feedback.
Track program budgets and process invoices
Off-season Programs and Workshops
Coordinate occasional hands-on, artist-led workshops for a variety of audiences
Work with the Public Programs manager to coordinate registration and communication with registered participants
Develop program descriptions and work with communications on language for promotion
Liaise with Visitor Experience staff to ensure smooth onsite operations

Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Visual Art, Art History, Museum Studies, Education or related field preferred
2-3+ years of experience working with K-12 audiences in a public-facing role required, preferably with a cultural institution
Strong working knowledge of modern & contemporary art required, knowledge of landscape & ecology preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills and experience speaking to groups diverse in age, background, and experience.
A strong belief in Storm King's mission and vision, and the ability to represent Storm King to a wide external audience, communicate effectively, and interact with all levels of staff as well as artists, the public and visitors in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.
Demonstrated passion for the visual arts, and knowledge of or interest in museum education, with a strong commitment to making art collections more accessible and meaningful to the general public.

Job DescriptionDescription Under the direction of the Regional Director, the Camp Director is primarily responsible for administering the management, policies, procedures, and curriculum of the assigned program. The Camp Director is responsible for operating a Summer Day Camp during the summer (June-August). Additional responsibilities include ensuring a developmentally appropriate program that ensures the healthy progression of social-emotional, cognitive, and motor skills for children in compliance with State regulations. The Camp Director ensures the connection of program activities to Y core focus areas of Healthy Living, Youth Development, and Social Responsibility.
The Rocky Woods Camp Director is a seasonal, full-time position available for 8 weeks from June - August, with additional planning hours available before the start of camp.
Key Responsibilities
Keeps the safety of campers as the priority. Emphasize personal safety and emotional wellbeing with campers, parents and other camp personnel always.
Maintain a partnership with the Trustees.
Support Trustees programs, youth outdoor learning and behavioral needs.
Creates an active, engaging environment.
By personal example, help interpret the quality of YMCA values to campers. Must be a positive role model. Develops appropriate relationships with all campers and staff in their care. Understands, establishes, and abides by appropriate boundaries.
Use positive, constructive methods of discipline/positive reinforcement, and ensures that all staff do the same.
Creates and implements recreational and educational programs that emphasize group participation with an appropriate amount of choice.
Assists in keeping daily attendance records. Stay alert to camper needs by practicing active listening.
Keeps a direct line of communication open with supervisors, partners and counselors.
Reports all accidents/unusual incidents immediately to appropriate supervisors and creates necessary documentation.
Communicates program information, problems, and concerns as they occur.
Plans and implements Camp Special Events and Family Night Activities.
Coordinates camp activities. Actively participates in and takes ownership of all aspects of camp program, including special events, openings, closings, and extended hours.
Attend all staff meetings and training sessions. Becomes familiar with provided training materials and actively incorporates them in their day today interactions and work with campers.
Maintains and cares for all program areas and supplies. Ensure that campers treat all equipment, supplies, and camp property with respect and responsibility.
Abides by the established YMCA/DPH camp policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines and asks when in doubt.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Must be at least 21 years of age, unless otherwise specified by the individual camp.
Must have high school diploma or equivalent; some college, and experience preferred.
The individual should like to work with children and have the ability to work with, develop, and understand the needs of children.
The individual must demonstrate a commitment to working with participants from a variety of backgrounds.
Knowledge of group process - must actively work in harmony with other staff.
Must be committed to carrying out YMCA mission, camp philosophy, and goals.
Must utilize effective communication skills.
Must possess or be willing to obtain current First Aid, Oxygen administration, and CPR certifications and all others as required by the specific camp.

About Your Compensation
Compensation for this position is $16.00/Hour.
A round-trip travel stipend is also provided.
About Your Work Day
To perform as an Artist with the Chautauqua Opera Company & Conservatory and adhere to the daily schedule.
To sing the roles as assigned for mainstage performances and prepare all assignments in advance of arrival.
To ARRIVE SCORE FREE for each mainstage performance opportunity on the first day of rehearsal. All scores will be sent in advance or purchased by the artist as detailed in their offer letter. Please note that the Artist may not mark on any materials provided by Chautauqua Opera Company & Conservatory with permanent ink of any variety, and all pencil markings must be erased prior to return of scores.
To sing in all assigned ancillary events on the Chautauqua Institution grounds (both in-person and digitally) ranging from Opera Invasions, Recitals, Guild events, Masterclasses, Orchestra Concerts and Evening Programs as requested.
To arrive on time for all rehearsals, coaching, events and fittings and with proper attire.
To act as a representative of the company and our season on social media, on the grounds and through various interviews with reporters at the Chautauquan Daily.
About the Referral Program
Chautauqua Institution's Referral Bonus Program is a talent solution to recruit, develop, and retain a diverse workforce that encompasses all the skills and experience necessary to deliver on our goals and objectives. Chautauqua Institution will provide a $500 referral bonus (less taxes) for active employees referring a new candidate who is hired and remains employed for at least 90-days from the first physical date of work. In the case of seasonal positions working less than 6-months, the new candidate must remain actively employed for at least 30-days from the first physical date of work and until the closing date of the season. The closing date of the season is the last Sunday in August.
About Your Schedule
Chautauqua Institution and Chautauqua Hotel Company offer flexible schedules, full and part-time, for seasonal employment during summer operations starting annually each June and concluding in August. Seasonal employment may be available earlier (pre-season) and beyond season (post-season) based on business needs and candidate availability. Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as a requirement.
While you will confirm your final schedule with management at the time of an interview and offer of employment, you should generally anticipate the following schedule options for this position:
Will be scheduled to work an average of 40-hours/week. Scheduled hours will include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
About Living on the Grounds
Chautauqua Institution may provide limited housing options on our grounds or assist you with locating nearby housing arrangements for select opportunities based on business needs. Housing is not an option for many positions and may be of a cost to you. Candidates should assume there are no employer-provided or employer-assisted housing options available for this position unless it is otherwise stated.
This position offers employer-provided housing and parking. Housing includes a private bedroom and shared living space. Residency starts in late June and ends early August.
