The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for quality and efficient completion of radiologic procedures for diagnostic interpretation. The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for providing patient education, quality patient care, and meeting all regulatory compliance.
Duties:
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of imaging procedures of at least two of the modalities listed below.
Practices radiation safety and adheres to ALARA standards.
Asks female patients if they are pregnant and protects them from harmful radiation.
Performs QC in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
Able to operate equipment consistent with manufacturer's recommendations.
Performs all exams based on Imaging Department Protocols or protocols the exam with the Radiologist.
Assists with clerical duties and patient transportation when required.
Answers the telephone, directs calls, and accurately records messages as needed.
Assists, trains, or cross-trains imaging staff members as directed.
Completes equipment downtime form and immediately notifies manager of equipment issues.
Flexible in rearranging work schedule to help fill in for emergencies, illnesses, and vacations.
Must be self-motivated, use independent judgment, and be able to work with minimum supervision.
Notifies Radiologist of all STAT or Emergent cases and provides ordering physician contact information.
Obtains appropriate informed consents when required.
Performs and documents medical history as it relates to the patient and the procedure.
Positive and supportive team member to all staff members of the hospital.
Responsible for ordering, stocking, and maintaining supply inventory.
Submits all written orders, registration documents, and required imaging forms to Health Information Management and the Radiologist.
Troubleshoots equipment problems and independently calls service engineer if the malfunction needs outside maintenance.
Verifies exam orders, identifies patient thru two means of identification, and provides exam education.
Verifies that all relevant paperwork is completed and prior studies are available before submitting procedures to the Radiologist for interpretation.
Works overtime as directed and takes call as required.
May be required to obtain additional training or certification in order to meet the needs of the department.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties
Position Specific Performance Expectations:
o Ability to triage patient to determine if medical exam is needed before forensic exam.
o Coordinate care by all agencies involved in assisting the sexual assault victim and coordinate referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up as needed for each patient.
o Perform a complete physical and forensic evidence collection examination including Head-to-toe assessment for trauma, detailed genital examination, forensic specimen collection and documentation (including photography), and assess for mandatory reporting status, reporting when appropriate.
o Perform and document sexual assault and forensic interview accurately.
o Administer appropriate prophylactic medication per protocols.
o Perform all duties as required per Forensic Nursing Program protocols.
o Provide testimony as fact or expert witness for any/all cases performed while FNE and coordinate with attorneys during the judicial process. (Be aware that you may be called to testify in examinations that you have completed several years after leaving the forensic program).
o Commit to cover one weekend (rotation dependent on number of active providers) with weekday call shifts divided among active providers, and 1 holiday call shift per year.
o Commit to working in the Forensic Nursing Program for a minimum of 1 year following the completion of training.
o Complete the initial FNE training and preceptor requirements as identified by the FNE program.
o Maintain Forensic Nursing competencies and participate in quality assurance projects, community education, and peer review.
o Must attend 75% of monthly staff meetings in a year.
o Participates in professional development by attending conferences, webinars, and other available trainings.
o Share individual expertise with other members of the Forensic Nursing Program.
o Debriefs as needed to maintain emotional and physical wellness.
o Takes appropriate steps to deal with emergency situations with the goals of maintaining the safety of all clients and staff.
o Engages with trauma informed practices to all populations and crises.
o Court accompaniment will be compensated at base hourly rate with call-back being compensated at time and a half.

Complete compliance coursework selected for this position by the Compliance Department on time twice per year.

Must complete employee health meeting.
Required Education/Licensure/Certification:
High School Diploma (or equivalent), preferred.
Valid Colorado Certified Nursing Assistant Certification, required.
Current BLS certification (or must be obtained within 90 days).
Experience:
