Key Responsibilities
Perform primary injection testing on low-voltage and medium-voltage circuit breakers to verify trip settings and functionality.
Inspect, calibrate, and maintain electrical protection devices in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
Document all test results, corrective actions, and recommendations in detailed reports.
Collaborate with data center operations teams to schedule testing with minimal impact on uptime.
Ensure compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and company safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
Operate and maintain high-current test equipment and associated tools.
Troubleshoot breaker performance issues and assist in repairs or replacements as needed.
Maintain truck inventory of tools and testing equipment.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or electrical certification preferred.
3-5 years of experience in electrical testing, breaker maintenance, or related field.
Proficiency in primary injection testing equipment and procedures.
Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems and protective devices.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
Valid driver's license (company truck provided).

This team is in a renovated Innovation Center in Decatur, GA, which houses state-of-the-art design validation equipment and facilities. Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
This role is responsible for test and measurement operations on Acuity Brands lighting products, components, and related materials. Additionally, this person will help maintain activity records, generate finished reports for the customer and forward finalized reports to the customer once the supervisor has reviewed and approved. Matrix partners for our Lab Technicians include engineers to modify products for additional testing.
Key responsibilities include:
* Certification testing to ensure products meet internal and external specifications (including any or all: UL, CSA, ANSI, and IEC). Testing is based on adapting the generic Certification body test method to the specific Acuity Brands product and includes set-up, testing, reporting, and interpretation of results to product groups. This includes testing of digital, analog, and mixed signal electronic circuits for lighting and lighting controls. Responsibilities require soldering and thermocouple adhesion to board level components such as LEDs and resistors.
* Validation testing of Acuity Brands products, including electrical, mechanical, environmental, FCC, IEC, and IEEE testing, is required for third-party safety verification.
* Photometric testing utilizing goniophotometers and integrating spheres to measure total flux output, spatial intensity distribution, and spectral distribution per IES, ANSI, and other applicable standards.
* Maintain lab space to meet 5S goals. Adapt and modify to improve testing performance as needs arise.
* Measure in accordance with KPI (key performance indicators) metrics. Shared accountability within the department to fulfill Acuity Brands Lighting/Lean initiatives. Use Lean tools and KPI measures to maintain a consistent flow through the lab and identify areas/activities in need of improvement.
* Develop new test methods per UL, CSA, ANSI, IEC and Acuity specific and create associated standard work and test procedures.

The salary range for this role is expected to be between $105,500 and $130,500. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.

Perform support for field operations. Perform physical tasks relating to testing of electrical apparatus. Perform as "Team lead" person on projects. Perform other assignments as required. Position requires minimal supervision. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Perform all aspects of testing and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems.
* Perform instrument transformer tests, power transformer testing, automatic transfer switch troubleshooting, generator testing, power meter calibration and high voltage circuit breaker testing.
* Troubleshooting capabilities, relay calibration, use of load and power quality recording instrumentation, infrared scanners, medium voltage breaker and switchgear testing.
* Test and troubleshoot complex electrical systems, moderately complex relay systems and power metering.
* Perform start-up services on switchgear up through the 230 kV class.
* May perform power system studies including short circuit, arc flash and protective device coordination.
* Write complete, detailed reports promptly at end of day/project using a computer.
* Represent the Company as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on technical topics.
* May perform complex analysis and evaluative tasks necessary to complete equipment- labeling projects consistent with recognized industry and international standards, local jurisdiction requirements and Company procedures.
Travel Requirements
* Willing to travel anywhere in North America >90% of the time. Schedule is dependent upon project work and is flexible to the degree it can be. This is worked out on a case by case basis with your assigned project manager. PTO scheduled in advance can and will be accommodated.
* Does NOT require relocation to a Vertiv headquarter or regional office at this time.
* This is "project work" which typical projects last anywhere from 3-12 months on average. It can vary based on schedule and progress.
* Options for downtime (i.e. in between projects), employee can take PTO, training, regional work, and "home office" work.
* Typical schedule is to work 8-12 weeks and then 1 weeks back at "home base" depending on project schedule. This varies based on the phase of the project.
* Expect to receive accelerated on-job-training (OJT) and experience due to the nature of this work. Excellent career jump start and then settle down in a region (if and when you choose to do so)
Supervisory Requirements
* Supervise up to 5 team members, providing technical guidance and training on testing of Electrical apparatus.
* Responsible for safety requirements, training, and reporting of their assigned team members.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
* Graduate Engineer BSEE or BSME and two years experience. OR Graduate of applicable Electrical Technical School or Military equivalent and five years minimum same or similar work experience. OR High school education or equivalent and six years minimum same or similar work experience.
* Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and various industry standards, such as OSHA and NFPA.
* Passed the NETA III (International Electrical Testing Association) exam or NICET equivalent.
* Strong background and experience in most types of switchgear testing through the 230 kV class.
* Good theoretical understanding of electrical power systems, and good aptitude for problem evaluation.
* Complete projects consistently meeting customer's deadline and on budget.
* Able to write detailed reports, using a computer.
* Communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with clients and peers.
* Good judgment, dependable, supervises projects with technical expertise and good business management skills.
* Strong computer skills including editing, formatting and using templates in Microsoft Word, use of Internet for standards/products/manufacturer research and operation of computer controlled test equipment.
* Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and night work. Must be available for out- of-town work of up to several months.
* Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, and smell. Frequently required to sit, climb and balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, basic color differentiation and the ability to adjust focus. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move 100 pound test sets.
* Valid Driver's License.
