Edward Crawford, one of the founders of the Grand Ledge Chair Co, left the Michigan Chair Co. and returned to Grand Ledge in 1902 to start the Crawford Chair Company.
Turnbull made regular trips to Grand Rapids to show off his handiwork, and the Grand Ledge Chair is “acknowledged as one of the mission style furniture designer/manufacturer in the United States (Grand Ledge Chair Company). After Turnbull died in 1916 he left the company to his wife, Emma.
The company changed hands in 1931 to become the Hoerner Chair Company.
