What You'll Do
· Lead the creative development of brand and product campaigns across broadcast, digital video, OOH, experiential, influencer, sponsorship, and social channels.
· Translate big brand ideas into scalable multi-channel campaign systems that flex across audience segments and cultural moments.
· Develop compelling creative tailored to platform behaviors and formats, from large-scale brand storytelling to short-form social content.
· Guide teams on how to effectively communicate with diverse audience segments, including Gen Z, emerging credit builders, and long-time members.
· Ensure creative is on brand, strategically sound, culturally relevant, and performance-aware.
· Partner with media, insights, and growth teams to align creative strategy with performance goals and learnings.
· Collaborate with agencies, external creators, production partners, and social/influencer platforms to execute best-in-class work.
· Champion and mentor creative talent-leading with empathy, clarity, inclusivity, and inspiration.
· Advocate for a diverse and representative creative environment.
· Drive work that moves key brand and business metrics such as consideration, perception, product understanding, and usage.
· Scale ideas up or down-from scrappy content to major brand moments-while staying within budget and timelines.
Basic Minimum Requirements
· 6+ years of creative experience leading brand and/or integrated campaigns within an agency and/or in-house environment.
· A strong and diverse portfolio of high-performing, breakthrough brand campaign work across multiple channels.
· Hands-on experience developing digital video and short-form content across modern media platforms.
· Demonstrated understanding of platform nuances, audience behaviors, and evolving creative trends.
· Experience shaping and maintaining a consistent brand voice, identity, and creative POV.
· Portfolio accessible, ie: YouTube, website, commercials, etc
Preferred Qualifications
· Working knowledge of video production workflows and creative development tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, motion graphics familiarity a plus
· Confident presenter able to articulate strategic thinking, creative rationale, and production plans to stakeholders and leadership
· Experience in consumer tech, financial services, or similarly complex product storytelling.
· Experience leading or partnering with high-volume in-house creative teams.

The estimated starting annual salary range for this position is $187,000 - $253,000. The role
John McNeil Studio is looking for an Art Director who can contribute across the full spectrum of creative work-from brand identity to integrated campaigns to motion-first storytelling. In addition to broader brand and campaign work, you'll guide the creative execution of our social newsroom program. You'll drive ideation, ensure visual consistency, and give designers, animators, and editors the direction they need to move fast without sacrificing quality. What you'll do
Newsroom Leadership
Guide the day-to-day creative workflow of the newsroom-assigning work, setting visual direction, and ensuring consistent output.
Partner with the newsroom strategist and designers to shape each asset cycle with ideas that are on-brand, reactive, and culturally aware.
Guide designers, animators, and editors on layout, motion, video, image selection, and final asset polish.
Maintain a consistent visual identity across a large volume of content while continuously evolving and optimizing it.

Art Direction + Concept Development

What you bring
4-7 years of agency experience.
