Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience

The Quality Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the execution and maintenance of the food safety and quality systems within the manufacturing facility. This position ensures that products meet internal standards and regulatory requirements by coordinating quality documentation, monitoring production practices, and facilitating corrective actions. The Quality Coordinator works cross-functionally with production, sanitation, and lab teams to ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, and GFSI standards (e.g., SQF).
Responsibilities of the Position:
Assist in the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Food Safety and Quality Management System (QMS)
Monitor and audit daily production activities for compliance with quality and food safety programs (GMPs, CCPs, SOPs)
Coordinate documentation and record-keeping for QA programs, including environmental monitoring program, sensory evaluation program, publish finished good COAs for external distribution; populate client ERP with quality batch record attributes as necessary
Adjust, review and support records and inspections with Qwerks
Support internal and external audits (e.g., SQF, FDA, customer) by preparing documentation and participating in audit activities
Manage monthly internal inspection program and observations action register
Investigate product quality issues, deviations, and non-conformances; assist in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
Track quality metrics and generate routine reports on non-conformances and on-hold non-controllable food and packaging components
Escalate quality trends to Quality Supervisor and Manager
Maintain inventory and submit PO requisitions for quality tools and supplies
Assist in training team members on food safety and quality policies, procedures, and best practices
Coordinate product inspections, sampling, verifications, and release activities alongside lab or QA technicians
Communicate with clients, suppliers, and external labs as needed regarding product testing, COAs, and specifications
Participate in continuous improvement projects related to quality and food safety performance

Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

Experience with quality data tracking systems or ERP platforms
Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, USDA, FSMA)
Experience in a GFSI-certified environment (e.g., SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000)
Food Safety Responsibilities:
Attend all food safety training sessions (GMP, SQF, HACCP, Allergen, Food Facility Security, Preventing Foodborne Illness)
Participate in company GMP walks
Enforce company rules regarding food safety and monitoring
Working Conditions:
Split between office, production floor, and QA/lab areas
This position may require the employee to work weekends or shifts other than their own to meet the needs of the business.
