About the Role:
Responsible for underwriting loans in a timely manner, resulting in an acceptable level of credit risk and an appropriate risk return relationship. Facilitate the booking of new loans, ensuring customers understand our company's requirements and their responsibilities. Manage the entire underwriting process through closing.
What You Will Do:
Underwrite the entire spectrum of lending products, regardless of size or complexity, in a timely and efficient manner.
Understand and apply credit policies, corporate Program Standards, and minimum underwriting standards.
Collaborate closely with the various Business Development Officers to provide a consultative/value-added credit perspective, both prior to proposal issuance and thereafter.
Review and analyze new deal packages for content and completeness.
Order and review due diligence and documentation.
Review and analyze financial statement spreads and understand cash flows.
Review and understand collateral and financial trends indicated therein.
On occasion, be willing to visit prospect locations and meet management of the business prior to closing for transactions over a predetermined amount.
Gain a thorough understanding of the prospect's business and what is impacting the company's growth, or declining, performance.
Review reporting requirements and processing with clients.
Analyze debtor information in conjunction with Debtor Credit Manager.
Prepare the credit narrative/CAR (Credit Approval Report) for appropriate approval and/or credit committees.
Be able to review the closing documentation and effectively negotiate with the prospect client, internal/external legal counsel, and/or other transaction stakeholders
Mentor and train analysts, and less experienced business development representatives.
