Job Description
The Associate Credit Analyst will be an integral part of our Merchant Acquiring Group and will be responsible for underwriting merchant applications for our growing Authorize.net merchant base.
Specific Responsibilities will include:
Apply appropriate underwriting criteria to prospective merchant applications in accordance with credit policy to ensure financial exposure is appropriately mitigated.
Support overall business needs by ensuring Underwriting group makes quality credit decisions within published SLAs.
Underwrite merchants for both our Enterprise and Small Business platforms.
Team with Sales and Acquiring Partners in order to provide a seamless experience to prospective merchants.
Perform periodic reviews of existing merchants in an effort to manage overall risk.
Work with Sales and Account Management on quantitative and qualitative understanding of merchant's acceptance costs and processing effectiveness.
Take an active role within Authorize.net to identify and recommend for approval process/policy changes to make the group more effective.
Contribute, as needed, to ongoing projects for the Merchant Acquiring team.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
•Minimum of 6 months of work experience or a Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Qualifications
•2 or more years of work experience
•3-5 years experience with credit underwriting. Previous experience with Merchant Acquiring or Credit Card processing is a plus.
•Signing authority over risk exposure commiserate with job level and product offering.
•Experience with financial analysis, including the ability to review and understand financial statements of both small- and large-sized companies which encompasses financial modeling and calculation of key ratios.
•Excellent quantitative and Excel skills
•Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The team
SoFi's Credit team manages credit risk activities for our lending products (Student Loan Refinance, Private Student Loan, Personal Loan, Credit Card, and Mortgage) - including credit strategies/policies for new account origination and portfolio management, collections/recovery strategies and operations, and risk and operational data science and analytics. Monitor investments on an ongoing basis to determine risk grade for each investment and overall suitability for the portfolio.
Work with other analysts to support team and department objectives.
Interface with relationship managers and other internal and external partners.
Contribute to the creation of financial models for the assessment of credit risk. and the valuation of portfolio securities.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, statistics, mathematics, economics or related field is valuable but an analytical mindset is preferred.
0-2 years' experience as a financial analyst preferably with a related financial services industry.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in making appropriate decisions on credits.
Basic knowledge of municipal credit markets.
Interpersonal, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Technical writing and verbal communication skills.
PC skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to work with other team members and management.
Ability to build strong relationships within the group.
Capable of working with a fair degree of autonomy and initiative.
