The Issues Management Analyst plays a critical role in supporting end-to-end lifecycle of issues across the credit union. The analyst is responsible for executing detailed analytical work, supporting business units through the issue lifecycle, and ensuring documentation meets Issues Management Standards and regulatory expectations. The individual will collaborate with business units, risk partners, IT Risk Administration, Compliance, and Internal Audit Services to help identify risks, analyze the impact of issues, and facilitate timely and effective remediation. This role contributes directly to strengthening the credit union's operational resilience, enhancing control effectiveness, and promoting a strong risk culture. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights. The role is critical to ensuring issues are accurately documented, properly risk-rated, and remediated in a manner that reduces operational risk and enhances compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory expectations. Essential Responsibilities: (20%) Issue Identification & Intake: Support intake and documentation of issues by partnering with business units, Audit, risk partners, Compliance and regulatory agencies. Responsibilities include gathering supporting information to validate issue conditions and timelines, helping business units articulate clear issue descriptions, impacts, and risk ratings, and ensuring all documentation meets Issues Management Standards and regulatory expectations. (15%) Root Cause Analysis: Assist in conducting and validating root cause analysis using the Five Whys methodology. Responsibilities include analyzing underlying process and control breakdowns contributing to the issue, confirming accuracy and documented causal factors, and supporting development of actionable insights to inform effective corrective actions. (15%) Corrective Action Development & Documentation: Support business units in developing and refining corrective action plans, including narratives, bulletized steps, success criteria, and sustainability success criteria. Responsibilities include ensuring corrective action plans align with IM Standards, Internal Control Standards, and regulatory expectations, and providing feedback to improve clarity, completeness, and feasibility. (20%) Issue Tracking, Monitoring & Monthly Status Review: Track progress of issues and corrective actions within the system of record, ensuring timely updates and accurate status reporting. Responsibilities include reviewing monthly updates for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with evidence, identifying risks of delay or insufficient progress, and escalating concerns with timeline requirements. (10%) Validation Preparation & Evidence Review: Assist in preparing issues for validation by supporting their transition from sustainability and reviewing evidence submitted. Responsibilities include verifying that evidence aligns with required frequencies and minimum sustainability periods and ensuring all supporting artifacts are complete, accurate, and ready for validation. (10%) Reporting & Program Analysis: Prepare and contribute to reporting for dashboards, trends, themes, and executive-level updates. Responsibilities include extracting and analyzing system-of-record data, identifying patterns and improvement opportunities, supporting recurring reporting cycles, and ensuring data integrity and clarity across program reporting. (10%) Collaboration, Stakeholder Support & Training Engagement: Provide day-to-day guidance to business units on issue documentation, corrective action requirements, and sustainability expectations. Responsibilities include participating in cross-functional meetings to progress issues through their lifecycle, supporting recurring and ad hoc reporting conversations, and assisting in training sessions, workshops, and awareness initiatives to improve documentation quality and program execution. Required Education & Experience (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities): Bachelor's degree in business, finance, risk management or related field (or equivalent work experience) 1-3 years of relevant experience in risk management, audit, compliance, operational risk management, or related field. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate root causes, impacts, and corrective actions. Ability to interpret policies, standards, regulations, and control expectations. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise documentation. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Preferred Education & Experience (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities): Experience in a financial institution or regulated industry. Performance Expectations and Essential Responsibilities • Comply with all Credit Union policies and regulatory requirements. • Ensure all member information remains confidential, and members' accounts are accessed for business purposes only. • Follow all security and control procedures. • Serve members by processing transactions in the appropriate system and balancing a cash drawer in accordance with Performance Measurement Criteria standards. • Adhere to SECU Check Acceptance Guidelines and Hold procedures. • Greet and assist members in a courteous, professional, and timely manner through all service channels - in-person, phone, and digital communication. • Answer phones and assist members with service requests. • Operate a drive-through window as needed. • Balance the vault, automated teller machines, teller cash dispenser, and coin sorter. • Evaluate daily mobile and automated teller machine check deposits. • Help verify and prepare cash delivery and shipments. • Interact with other departments to facilitate member request. • Organize, file and scan documents daily. • Process foreign and domestic wire transfers. • Help order and return foreign currency. • Troubleshoot problems with member accounts, cards, and on-line access including processing disputes. • Review and take appropriate action on negative checking, NSFB, and Share Below $25 report. • Begin learning to open basic accounts while following MIP procedures for existing members including share, money market, checking, and Share Term Certificates with experienced MSR/MSO supervision. • Learn CXone and be able to assist MSS as requested. • Begin obtaining basic knowledge of Financial Advisory and Real Estate products and services offered by SECU (i.e., insurance, retirement planning, investment services, trust, and mortgage services) and provide referrals as needed. • Maintain daily and monthly records for various reports - i.e., return items, forgeries. • Exhibit a positive attitude toward members and teammates while maintaining professional appearance and demeanor. • Participate in additional training and continuing education to enhance knowledge of branch operations. • Regular attendance and punctuality are mandatory. • Complete additional tasks assigned by management and other administrative duties as needed. Minimum Requirements • Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent. Preferred - Bachelor's degree, or CCUE Certification, or Associate of Arts degree or Associate of Science degree via the North Carolina Community College Transfer Program (NC-CTP). • Consistently demonstrates SECU's Core Values • Must possess an aptitude for meeting people and developing member confidence, respect, and trust in the Credit Union. • Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written. • Must have good problem-solving skills. • Must complete the Credit Unions Core Module Program within 12 months of hire date as a condition of employment. Job Environment Office setting with physical proximity to other employees and members. Some background noise from other employees, printers, telephone and coin machine. Physical Demands Must be able to comprehend and carry out job demands. Job requires a substantial amount of sitting. Use hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard to enter or retrieve information. Use hands and fingers to press telephone keypad and lift telephone receiver. Must be able to comprehend phone calls. Must be able to lift 10-15 pounds.
