Repairs and maintains diesel tractor/trailer and/or refrigeration equipment and any other work associated with tractor/trailer repair. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs brake systems, engines, electrical components, steering systems, transmissions, drive trains, and tires for tractors, trailers, and refrigeration equipment. * Performs preventative maintenance services, including changing oil, checking fluids, inspecting batteries, testing lights, and lubricating equipment. * Establishes and maintains positive working relationships. * Receives and carries out instructions. * Maintains regular and predictable attendance. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES * Communicates effectively. * Possesses knowledge of skilled trades such as automotive or diesel mechanics. * Displays electrical and diagnostic skills. * Exhibits ability to read, write, talk, and hear; add, subtract, multiply, and divide; and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds as required. * Uses computers and software programs proficiently. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associate's degree; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS ASE certified and DOT inspection certified as required by supervisor EPA Certification for Federal Clean Air Act 609 as required by supervisor and/or location EPA Certification for Federal Clean Air Act 608 as required by supervisor and/or location Valid driver's license as required by supervisor, with CDL Class A driver's license preferred OTHER Must have own tools Safety shoes (steel or composite toe) required WORK ENVIRONMENT The nature of the environment is one in which the employee may come in contact with outside weather conditions, vibration, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold or extreme heat, and excessive noise levels.
