**Responsibilities**
Essential functions will include:
+ Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards.
+ Erect and dismantle scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
+ Load, unload, and distribute building materials, tools, and machinery to appropriate locations.
+ Measure, mark, and record layout dimensions for construction activities.
+ Operate pumps, compressors, or generators to power tools, equipment, or move materials.
+ Mix, pour, and spread concrete using portable cement mixers.

Position Summary
The Colorado Forest Restoration Institute at Colorado State University is hiring experienced crew leaders to assist with field data collection and management in support of our research and monitoring field studies. Crew leaders oversee crews of 2-4 technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality data collection while operating in backcountry forest landscapes. These are full-time positions from April through October 2026, with potential for extension dependent upon funding.
Crews work 10-hour field days, frequently traveling overnight for 4-day or 8-day trips and camping near field sites. Driving short and long distances on improved and unimproved roads to collect ecological data at remote field sites is part of the required work. Required Job Qualifications
* B.S. in Ecology, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a related field of study and demonstration of 2 or more seasons of related field experience, or M.S. degree in a related field of study and demonstration of 1 or more seasons of related field experience.

* Two or more years of experience implementing diverse ecological, forestry, and fuels field sampling methods, and knowledge of sampling equipment, procedures and QA/QC protocols. Familiarity with sampling methods and procedures implemented on CFRI research and monitoring projects is desirable.
* Experience safely conducting fieldwork in remote locations, preferably in Colorado or dry western forests, including navigating across arduous terrain with topographic maps, compass, and GPS technology, and ability to work in adverse conditions with frequent travel and unusual schedules. First-aid and CPR certification, wilderness first aid, or similar advanced certification desired.
* Demonstrated proficiency identifying vascular plants to species both by sight and using dichotomous keys. Experience with Rocky Mountain flora desired.
* Basic proficiency using ArcGIS software to create maps.
* Experience with data entry and data Quality Assurance/Quality Control protocols to support ecological and forestry research. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel highly preferred, familiarity with Microsoft Access and R also desired.

JOB PURPOSE:
Facilitate, Lead, and Engage in conservation projects across the state of Wyoming out in the field.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Crew Leader roles are half-time AmeriCorps positions. Leaders will co-lead a crew of 6 veteran members on ten-day, labor-intensive conservation projects around the state of Wyoming, living and working outdoors. Leaders will report to and take direction from the Program Coordinators. Activities will include, but are not limited to, project coordination with land management agency sponsors, camping, cooking, recreation, environmental education, and group learning programs.
Leaders will also participate in WCC member recruitment, equipment purchasing and maintenance, and program evaluation; autonomous decision making and working alone. Crew Leaders are responsible for documentation of crew activities and for the physical and emotional well-being of the crew. Crew Leaders are required to fulfill an hourly commitment each week and one weekend per month during the spring semester. This will include the upper-division WCC Leadership for Natural Resource Management class in which leaders will be enrolled through the Environment and Natural Resources program. Crew Leaders will participate in some volunteer recruitment activities as well as a variety of other trainings. Schedule for completion of hours will be flexible.

JOB PURPOSE:
Under limited supervision, perform physical tasks involved with building, construction projects, moving and demolition; operate various power tools; clean and prepare sites and excavations, dig trenches, erect scaffolding, remove rubble and debris, move items and equipment; perform moving and setup and other duties as assigned.

Perform physical labor for masonry projects including mixing mortars and cement, operating a jackhammer and grinder, lifting and moving materials to and from various job sites.
Perform daily lubricating, cleaning and repairing of machinery, equipment and tools used in construction labor.
Assist with construction projects and perform general duties including running parts, demolition, paint preparation, wire pulling, pipe installation, installation of various construction materials, and work site cleaning.
Assist in snow removal duties by removing snow from sidewalks, steps, roadways and parking lots utilizing hand tools and/or heavy equipment, dump truck and sand truck.
Perform moving operations for equipment, furniture and specialized items.
