Base Pay: $17.38 Hourly . SUMMARY: Assists Survey Party Chief in supervising a crew making surveys for the planning, design, and construction of roads, drainage facilities, and other county facilities. Performs other functions involved in the work of a survey field party.
The employee is required to be on duty before, during, and after natural disasters and emergencies, as directed by the supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists Survey Party Chief in supervising the survey crew. In the absence of the Party Chief, gives daily work assignments to crew members.
May perform inspections and maintain inspection records.
May record field notes, calculate survey results, and help prepare working drawings.
Interprets policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving them.
May perform any of the duties of other survey crew members, including:
* Operating level and transit.
* Setting grade hub for road construction as well as grades for drainage ditches.
* Operating electronic transit and distance meter.
* Operating rod and chain.
* Reading instruments and accurately recording the results.
* Making survey calculations.
* Locating survey points.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: In the absence of the Survey Party Chief, the incumbent supervises survey party crew members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Nueces County policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Job description
As a Laborer you will provide landscape maintenance, landscape irrigation or landscape construction support to a variety of industrial, commercial, and/or public properties. Landscape maintenance, landscape irrigation or landscape construction support includes the safe operation of commercial grade landscaping equipment and upkeep of plant material and other landscaping elements.
Essential Function:
· Performs a variety of tasks involving manual labor in landscape, irrigation or construction projects.
· Performs manual and machinery work in preparing surfaces for paving (Landscape Construction).
· Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
· Performs materials handling and storage.
· Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
· Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
· Cut turf using various sized power mowers, trimming, and edging using a gas-powered edger/trimmer, and operating a gas-powered blower.
· Properly and safely prune shrubs and low trees as needed to improve the shape or growth habit or to remove damaged branches.
· Lay sod, plant, mow, trim, dig, rake, prune, mulch, sprinkler installation, and load and unload materials.
· Plant and maintain flower beds.
· Properly and safely operate the edger and line trimmer along sidewalks, flower beds, trees, buildings, fences and other objects.
· Pick up trash and blow leaves and other organic debris on to the turf before mowing. Mulch the leaves and organic matter when mowing.
· Perform weeding by hand or using a garden hoe or hula hoe.
· Maintain a polite, friendly, responsive demeanor with customers
· Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, safety director or HR manager.
· Must uphold company policies, procedures, and company core values at all times
· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required
-1+ years of construction/irrigation experience
-Spanish is a PLUS
-Valid driver's license
