Essential Functions of Crew Leader at Wright Tree Service: Supervises a line clearance crew and is responsible for planning daily work for crew. Assigns work for individual crew members and directs crew in performing work according to accepted line clearance practices. Must be capable of adjusting to field requirements and take independent action without close supervision. Recognizes poisonous plants and uses proper safeguard against them. Enforces safe work practices, as experience, judgment, company policy, and OSHA specifies and conducts safety training in accordance with company policies and procedures. Obtains oral or written permission from property owners to trim or remove trees and apply herbicides. Arranges with customer or property owner ability to obtain access, advise them of interruption and explain the work that needs to be done. Repairs minor damages if they occur. Takes complicated situations to General Foreperson's attention for proper handling. Promotes and maintains good customer and public relations through effective completion of assigned work and the appropriate behavior of employees on the crew. Keeps accurate records, timesheets and reports related to the performance of the crew. Responsible for being mindful of controlling crew costs including effective use of manpower, proper work methods, amount of trimming, and operation of equipment. Considers inclement weather conditions and determines when to start or stop work, dependent upon its effect on employees and the nature of the work. Safeguards employees and public from hazards in and around work area. Cooperates with customer, police, and fire departments when blocking street or driveways. Sprays stumps and brush with hand-spraying equipment to prevent further growth. Loads and unloads trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris and/or feeds brush into a wood chipper. Each crew leader is responsible for co-leading a team of high-school youth to live and work together on conservation-related projects, environmental education, and leadership development activities in Northern Minnesota (Superior National Forest) over two 3-week sessions. The goal of the program is to create environmental stewards and future leaders through community engagement, hands-on teamwork, and professional development. Crew leaders work in a team of 5-6 to facilitate student and group safety, camping excursions, personal development, environmental education, and work project management. Crew leaders also represent MobilizeGreen on-site and coordinate with partners on designated projects. All crew leaders are required to attend a pre-program training (virtual/in-person hybrid). Reports To: Account Manager Experienced landscape professionals will demonstrate safe power equipment and hand tool operations, landscape practices that promote plant health, irrigation repairs & controller programming, shrub pruning, and planting, power mowing, trimming, blowing, raking, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, sod laying, sprinkler installation, irrigation repairs such as main lines, lateral repairs, sprinkle repairs, clock programming, and running manual irrigation valves. Responsibilities: The Maintenance Crew Leader main responsibilities are: Lead a group of two or three persons. Drive a truck with a trailer attached. Cut lawn with mowers (21”, 36”, 48”, and riding mowers). Blow leaves and debris from site areas with blower (24.8lbs). Trim shrubs, plants, and small trees with hand pruners and hedge trimmer (13lbs). Plant shrubs and color annuals on site properties. Trim grass and weed areas with string line trimmer (12lbs). Apply fertilizer with a spreader (pushing 35lbs, front backpack 9lbs) and chemicals with backpack sprayer (with 3 gallons of chemical 35 lbs). Apply water with a hose or with the irrigation system depending on site. Load and unload equipment, materials, and garbage from truck. Safe hand tool operations such as: picks and shovels, rakes, pruning saws, hand pruners or bush trimmers, and axes. Safe power/electric equipment operations such as: lawn mowers, blowers, weed-eaters, edges, hedge-trimmers, chainsaws, sod cutters, or pruning saws, tractors, twin-axle vehicles. Water lawns, trees, or plants, using sprinkler systems, hoses, water carts, or watering cans. Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws. The Journeyman's primary goal is to be involved in all aspects of the roofing trade, from tear-off to repair and maintenance. Primary roofing systems installed include TPO, PVC, and EPDM. The Journeyman will be responsible for assisting with crew management and administrative tasks. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with crew members to remove and install commercial roofing systems in a safe and efficient manner. Inspect safety equipment daily and ensure all company equipment is in safe working conditions. Assist with good housekeeping practices on the roof and staging roof areas with equipment and required materials. Participate in weekly meetings to discuss job site safety, project progress, and schedule. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises up to 10 employees within your crew, assisting with delegated tasks from Formen. Supervising and assisting crew members in absence of foreman.
