The Role
As a Construction Laborer / Soil Sample Technician, you'll be a key part of Tasman's environmental and construction field teams. You'll support soil sampling operations using hand augers, help keep job sites safe and organized, and assist crews in meeting daily production goals.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in hands-on work, and wants to be part of projects that protect communities and the environment.
What You'll Be Doing
In the Field
Perform hand auger soil sampling
Collect, label, and document soil samples accurately
Assist with general labor tasks such as shoveling, lifting, and site cleanup
Maintain safe, clean, and organized job sites
Ensure job sites are secure at the end of each workday
Follow all safety protocols and properly use PPE
Work closely with supervisors and team members to meet daily production goals
Administrative & Team Support
Complete daily paperwork including timecards, DVIRs, JSAs, equipment inspections, and incident reports
Maintain clear communication with crew members, supervisors, and managers
Communicate equipment, material, and personnel needs
Accurately complete soil sampling documentation
What You Bring

Summary:
Under general supervision, the position safely and effectively executes agricultural land restoration program objectives as well as department wide plans that support all chartered land uses and open space purposes. This role coordinates and conducts tasks as part of a team to rehabilitate degraded agricultural land for the purpose of improving agricultural production; ecologically restoring historic agricultural land using nature-based solutions to help ecosystems adapt to and withstand climate change and to bring function back to our scarred ecosystems; help maintain Open Space and Mountain Parks' (OSMP) agricultural infrastructure to aid in the success of OSMP's agricultural tenants; and performs related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
Engages in agricultural and natural land management and restoration techniques
Conducts noxious and invasive plant species management, including herbicide applications.
Conducts prairie dog removal (on irrigated agricultural lands only) using Pressurized Exhaust Rodent Control (PERC) machines.
Installs and maintains agricultural fences, gates, and culverts.
Maintains/constructs/runs flood irrigation ditches.
Conducts invasive tree removal using chainsaws and herbicide applications (cut-stump applications).
Collects and sows native seed; installs and waters native plants on restoration sites.
Safe and effective operation of tractors, mini-excavators, and skid steers for various land management actions.
Safe and effective operation and maintenance of power tools such as weed whips, power augers, PERC machines, and chainsaws.
Safe operation of pickup trucks and pull trailers on and off road.
Performs surveys and mapping of invasive and noxious plant species using GPS technology and aerial photography.
Conducts other agricultural and natural land rehabilitation tasks as required.
Maintains detailed records of work completed using asset and data management software.
Communicates with team leaders on daily and weekly work plans and project status updates.
Assists with project logistics such as methods, equipment needs, time allocation requirements, and use of external resources to accomplish project tasks.
Reports all accidents, damage to city property, and/or policy infractions.
Understands and comply with all policies, including safety, best practices.
Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Construction Execution
Strategic Scheduling: Develop and manage a 3 week look-ahead schedule, ensuring smooth project progression and proactive problem-solving.

Material Management: Ensure Foremen have accurate and up-to-date project documentation, plans, and information to maintain alignment across teams. Verify Foremen have the necessary tools, materials, and resources to execute tasks efficiently and effectively.
Project Oversight: Supervise the creation of as-built drawings, panel schedules, and project updates to ensure accurate and timely records, and assist in developing and resolving RFIs (Requests for Information) to address project challenges promptly.
Performance Tracking: Monitor production metrics, maintain daily reports, and verify timesheets to ensure accountability and accurate project tracking.
Quality Assurance: Provide consistent quality control by coordinating inspections with AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) and ensuring work meets or exceeds standards.
Project Closeout Responsibilities
As-Built Turnover: Ensure the accurate turnover of as-built drawings and panel schedules to the supervisor for final documentation.
Contractual Compliance: Verify that all contractual requirements are completed in full, meeting project specifications and quality standards.
Vendor Coordination: Schedule and confirm all vendor start-ups to ensure proper equipment operation and commissioning.
Tool Management: Oversee the transfer of tools and equipment back to the shop, ensuring accountability and proper storage.
Owner Stock: Verify that all owner stock is accounted for and appropriately transmitted to the general contractor (GC) or owner.
Closeout Collaboration: Actively participate in project closeout meetings to address any remaining issues, ensure proper handover, and facilitate lessons learned for future projects.

What You'll Do:
Drive a pickup truck and possibly a trailer to job sites with necessary tools and equipment.

GENERAL DUTIES:
· Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities.
· Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.
· Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.
· Assist with evening cabin activities.
· Attend and participate in Staff Orientation.
· Attend and participate in all camp wide activities, campfires, staff meetings and staff devotions
· Assist with Camper check-in and check-out.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Safety and Supervision
· Enforce, and abide by, all camp policies and procedures
· Responsible for the health and well-being of self and campers.
· Maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers at all times
· Practice and enforce all camp safety regulations and emergency procedures.
Maintain group/staff control at specialized group activities so that other support staff can focus on safety.
· Ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct at all times.
· Coordinate and implement all program components relative to the daily schedule in a timely fashion.
· Attend relevant in-service trainings.
Weekly Responsibilities
· Report to the Service CrewLeader and follow instructions for daily tasks as assigned.
· Assist in the maintenance of High Peak Camp by;
Emptying all outdoor and indoor common trash receptacles.
Maintain camp lawns and landscaping.
Provide general building maintenance.
Maintain trails.
Other tasks as needed.
· Setup and clean up of camp fires.
· Assist with programming of all campfire programs.
These may include messy games, skits, and songs for campers.
· Take part is special camp property projects.
· Set and clear tables after and after each meal.
· Serve food during assigned meals.
· Assist in dining room preparation for each camp session.
· Assist in dish rooms duties as assigned.
Clean dishes and dish room floors after each meal.
· Deliver program supplies as needed to program areas.
· Assist in camper supervision under the direction of other staff members.
· Perform all other duties and roles assigned by the Director and Assistant Director.
Due to the particular nature of the camp program in session, you may be asked to assist in duties not directly related to this specific job description. This is necessary for the smooth operation of the camp. Staff members are expected to comply with all reasonable requests.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
· 15 years of age (by May 1st)
· Ability to following through with assigned tasks.
· Has a strong work ethic and ability to follow procedures.
· Flexible attitude.
· Maintain a high standard of personal and communal living and behaviors.
· Must have or obtain ServSafe certification at time of employment.

Physical Requirements:
