The Track Foreman position is required to safely and efficiently inspect, repair, and maintain the railroad track infrastructure to insure safe and efficient service to our customers. This position requires that the individual is proficient in and can supervise team members performing the following skills, duties, and requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Required to supervise Track Laborer and Truck Driver/Machine Operator.

Read gauges, precision measuring instruments, schematics and maintenance manuals 100% of the time.
Education/Experience
Must be 18 years or older.
High school education or general education development (GED).
1 year supervisory experience in railroad management or the combination of supervisory experience and training in a course in track maintenance.
Certificates and Licenses
The team member in this job must be able to pass Track Ground School, GCOR Written Test, Roadway Worker Protection Written Test, Fall Protection Written Test, Maintenance of Way Safety Written Test, MSHA/OSHA Training and Certification (if required on site), CWR Written Test, FRA Track Standards Test, Track Foreman Written Test, Track Inspection Written Test, and Manager's Training.

HANDS-ON-REQUIREMENTS:
Follow all safety guidelines, and promote a safe work environment for self and crew.
Obtain commercial project objectives by reading blueprints, coordinating materials, scheduling pours, directing manpower, communicating professionally with job superintendents.
Work within scope of budget and utilize manpower efficiently.
Collaborate with Field Supervisor and Project Manager on daily objectives.
Working in the field doing a variety of activities, from moving materials, ensuring equipment is in working order, assembling forms, scaffolding, and all other manual jobs.
Ensure materials are loaded and accounted for at each project.
Clean and organize site to eliminate potential hazards.
Keep job site, trucks, and equipment clean.
Report any issues including the malfunction of equipment or vehicles immediately to shop supervisor.
All other duties assigned.
SKILLS REQUIRED for a CONCRETE FOREMAN
Mastery of concrete mixing, pouring, curing and finishing techniques
Expertise with cast in place concrete
Accurate quantification of concrete yardage and scheduling of concrete orders
Powered Industrial Truck certified / all terrain forklift
Exceptional leadership and communication skills
Excellent project management skills demonstrating time management, efficiency, and cost controlling measures
Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
Mentorship for incoming new talent for future growth
Reading and interpreting blueprints & construction plans
Using concrete finishing tools and equipment: power/laser screeds, power buggy, sky trac, hand trowel, among others

Responsibilities/Duties
The Landscape CDL Operator & Crew is responsible for overseeing the daily work of a landscape crew assigned to oversee the installation of various mulches, seeding lawns using compost, and applying erosion control materials to ensure quality and timely completion of work site requirements. This includes driving the blow truck, directing and organizing the daily work for landscape crew Members, and performing labor and tasks necessary to complete the work.
Drives standard (manual) transmission Blower Truck (requiring a Class B CDL).
Pneumatically apply mulch and erosion or sediment control material and seeds lawns using compost; blown in with forced air using sectioned hoses through a computerized remote control operated by Crew Leader (rather than manually with a wheelbarrow, rake, and shovel).
Leads crew and performs all tasks involved in installation and cleanup such as detailing, edging, raking, sweeping, watering, picking stones, and clearing of debris.
Leads by example, and guides Crew Members, regarding company policies and procedures such as attendance, conduct, and dress code.
Communicates with and provides exceptional customer service to property owners in the absence of a Production Coordinator or Supervisor.
Identify problems at the work site and follow through appropriately, consulting with the Production Coordinator or Production Manager as appropriate.
Ensures daily preparation of trucks and equipment, loading and securing equipment, and material needed.
Uses hand tools such as wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, picks, brooms, etc.
Ensures daily maintenance of tools and equipment (cleaning, sharpening, greasing, fueling, etc.)
May operate other equipment such as trucks, Bobcats, compactors, trenchers, masonry saws, etc.
Assist with snow removal during the winter months as business needs dictate.
Ensures team's compliance with company safety policies and procedures at all times.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work is primarily performed outdoors during all seasons.
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including inclement weather (rain, snow, heat or cold).
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Hearing protection is required for duties such as equipment operation that expose the individual to elevated noise levels.
The duties of this position may expose the individual to chemicals and fertilizers.
Schedule
This is a Full-time Seasonal position.
Typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm (40-55 hours per week) during our peak season (approximately April to November). Saturday hours as needed.
Hours vary in winter months (approximately December through March) based on snow removal.
Overtime may be required as workload dictates.
What Skills Do I Need?
A minimum of 2-3 years of landscape construction experience is required.
Previous foreman or crew leader experience is preferred.
A valid Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with good driving record is required.
Current federal DOT medical card.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Ability to direct and lead employees of various skill levels and experience to ensure desired results.
Applied knowledge of effective landscaping skills and techniques.
Ability to read and analyze or interpret design plans.
Knowledge of trees, shrubs, and other landscape products.
Being bilingual in Spanish and English is helpful.
