Performs project work such as fuel inventory and hazard fuel reduction projects.
Participates in fire and safety training in the techniques, practices and methods of fire suppression and in the safe, efficient operation and use of tools, equipment and vehicles used in fire line activities.
Cleans, maintains, reconditions and stores tools and equipment, and inventories fore supplies and equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Construction Laborer must understand the practices, techniques and technologies required in the work they are performing. A significant portion of time will be spent moving about the resort, which has uneven gravel and dirt roads.
Responsibilities
Perform a variety of routine and specialized construction tasks, troubleshooting, making minor and major repairs and new construction, including but not limited to any or all of the following:

Building foundations and slabs

Qualifications

* Prior to initiating the use of light equipment i.e., tractors, shredders, hand tools, etc. areas where the equipment will be used will be checked/screened to remove large rocks and other debris that could cause damage to the equipment.
* Ensures that proper routine maintenance of all equipment is taken care of and inspects such equipment to ensure that the equipment is in good working condition. Assists in minor repairs of tools and equipment. Ensures all such maintenance and repairs are documented.

* Whenever necessary, leads the crew to operate tractors, forklifts, loaders or trucks with attachments such as shredders, chippers to accomplish certain special tasks.

The Ecological Monitoring Program at NMFWRI maintains a professionally managed field crew to collect data on short and long-term ecosystem responses to restoration treatments, wildfires, climate change, and other disturbances. This data provides a critical scientific basis for adaptive management decisions and improved treatment effectiveness. The program also works with partners to build statewide capacity in ecological monitoring, adaptive management, and restoration. This Crew Lead is responsible for responsible for leading crews carrying out NMFWRI's ecological monitoring and restoration activities on public and private lands throughout New Mexico. This position works with the Ecological Monitoring program manager and our team, and other FWRI teams as needed. We welcome candidates who can work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of professionals working towards wildfire resilience, post-fire restoration, and watershed conservation. This position will require excellent attention to detail; good self-care; a passion for working outdoors; a strong safety ethic and robust organizational skills. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to leadership of the monitoring field crew in data collection (including regular overnight travel); providing oversight and quality control; supervising and mentoring student workers and interns; equipment inventory and maintenance; assisting with data analysis and reporting; participating in the creation, revision and publication of training and other materials; providing training to various audiences; and some administrative tasks.
Duties And Responsibilities
Perform field measurements and assessments of forest resources and ecological indicators, including data recording and quality assurance. Work is often performed in remote locations over difficult terrain. Take a leadership role in crew preparation, management, and accomplishment of field tasks. This involves primary supervision, mentorship and task delegation of the upland field crew and work-study interns in the field, and at times in office settings, as well as coordinating schedules, vehicles, equipment, and meals. Overnight travel and camping required. Take a leadership role in crew safety. Maintain a Wilderness First Responder or higher certification Perform field mapping of project sites using Global Positioning System and Geographic Information Systems technology Perform computer entry and quality control of field data including using FFI , Microsoft Excel, or other database software with attention to detail, including working with historic data Assist the monitoring staff in generating summary reports of field data and communicating results and management implications to partners. POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Construction Laborer must understand the practices, techniques and technologies required in the work they are performing. A significant portion of time will be spent moving about the resort, which has uneven gravel and dirt roads.
Responsibilities
Perform a variety of routine and specialized construction tasks, troubleshooting, making minor and major repairs and new construction, including but not limited to any or all of the following:
New construction infrastructure
Building foundations and slabs
Installing electrical light fixtures, switches, and receptacles, exhaust fans, ceiling fans, water heaters and other appliances, within abilities.
Installing windows and doors, door track mechanisms, hardware, check and repair locks, repair hinges, patch drywall, etc.
Plastering, fence building, floor, ceiling, and wall repairs.
Major and minor roof repairs when Maintenance Department needs assistance.
Ensure that buildings and equipment are maintained in a safe, clean and orderly condition, in accordance with health and fire regulations and as directed by Supervisor or Project Manager.
Report unusual conditions and situations which may endanger mechanical functions or operations of the Resort to Project Supervisor or Project Manager.
Maintain hand and power tools in working condition.

Qualifications
General knowledge of the tools, methods and materials used in building construction work; resort or hotel building/maintenance experience a plus.
Ability to use a variety of hand tools and equipment, measure distance and calculate quantities, and read blueprints.
Specialized repair abilities or experience in some of the following areas preferred: general carpentry, plumbing, plastering, electrical, concrete work, tile work and painting.
Good driving record. Ability to pass drivers background check. Ability to operate light to heavy machinery, vehicles, and equipment.
High school diploma (or equivalent skills and experience).
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, receive and give instructions, and prepare work orders and reports, including via the use of a computer or other device.
Must have reliable transportation; reliability and punctuality are critical.
