Each crewleader is responsible for co-leading a team of high-school youth to live and work together on conservation-related projects, environmental education, and leadership development activities in Northern Minnesota (Superior National Forest) over two 3-week sessions.
The goal of the program is to create environmental stewards and future leaders through community engagement, hands-on teamwork, and professional development. Crewleaders work in a team of 5-6 to facilitate student and group safety, camping excursions, personal development, environmental education, and work project management. Crewleaders also represent MobilizeGreen on-site and coordinate with partners on designated projects. All crewleaders are required to attend a pre-program training (virtual/in-person hybrid).

Outdoor Education/Skills- Experience and familiarity with outdoor skills, including: up to 8 miles of hiking, extensive camping experience, safety awareness, Leave No Trace, etc.

What you need to be a CrewLeader:
Excellent understanding of tree care operations and safe tree care practices
Minimum of 5 years of experience in tree care, including pruning, trimming, and removals
Strong ability to climb and navigate a tree safely and efficiently
Extensive knowledge of tree species, diseases, and proper care techniques
Proficient in operating and maintaining various tree care equipment, such as chainsaws, chippers, and stump grinders
Excellent problem solving abilities and the capacity to make informed decisions on the job

Responsibilities:
Knowledge of all sanitation processes / 7 steps of effective wet sanitation.
Assists to supervise daily activities of the sanitation process to assure food safety and quality.

Measure, cut, and install fiberglass batts and blown insulation
Load, transport, and use job site tools (blowers, staple guns, etc.)
Ensure all insulation is sealed correctly with no gaps or air leaks
Adhere to all safety standards and wear proper PPE
Maintain detailed records and complete inspection/job reports
Communicate professionally with customers on-site
Qualifications:
Previous insulation installation experience preferred
Ability to work in confined spaces and varying temperatures
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Good communication and teamwork skills
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
Bilingual a plus, but not required
No experience required! We'll train you!
Start at $18/hr without a driver's license
Start at $25/hr with a valid driver's license
(First 60 days - then pay increases)
Piece rate available for batt installers after training
Other roles (foam, blow truck, etc.) receive a $1 raise after 60 days
Previous insulation experience? You'll hit the ground running
Must be comfortable working in tight, hot/cold environments
Bilingual a plus
Valid driver's license & reliable transportation preferred

Physical Demand:
This role requires the ability to work in confined attic spaces, often in hot or cold temperatures. Installers must be able to crawl, kneel, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Extended periods of standing and reaching overhead are common. Use of ladders and personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and coveralls, is required. BASIC FUNCTION
Landscape maintenance staff ensures that the park grounds, athletic fields and garden plots are kept clean, attractive and safe throughout the summer season. This position works in the early morning and weekends.
Seasonal (Memorial Day - Labor Day)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Maintains turf areas including mowing and trimming.
Inspects parks, cleans up debris.
Install and maintain landscape material such as flowers, trees, shrubs, grass, etc.
Prune hedges and trees.
Assists in landscape construction projects.
Inspects, cleans, maintain and performs routine maintenance on related equipment.
Cleans buildings and restrooms as needed.
Performs safety inspections and repairs on athletic fields and parks.
Constructs and performs daily maintenance on athletic fields.
Performs support services at Park District and community events.
Operates District vehicles and equipment.
OTHER DUTIES
Assist administrative staff with special maintenance requests.
May be required to perform overtime work as requested or required, including weekends.
Provides polite customer service to any park users if approached.
Follow all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Park District Safety and Crisis Manuals
Coordinates activities to successfully collaborate with district staff performing maintenance in the same area.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma Preferred
Experience: Related experience preferred
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Certifications: Valid Illinois Driver's License required.
