DeLeers Construction is seeking an experienced residential construction carpenter to join our Finishing team as a Crew Lead. Crew leads are accountable to lead a group of 2-3 carpenters, distribute work on the job site, mentor/train other carpenters, and communicate with the project superintendent to ensure that projects are done on time with the detail and quality of a DeLeers structure. DeLeers Carpenters will work on both large and unique residential projects and light commercial construction projects. If you are looking for challenging projects, DeLeers is the team for you! The Crew Lead position is an hourly (non-exempt) role. In addition to the hourly base rate we also pay travel pay, and when the occasional overnight is required you get your own hotel room, $45 daily per diem, and additional $3 per hour differential pay.

Various duties and responsibilities include:
Supervise & Coordinate Work
* Assist the Distribution Maintenance Supervisor with prioritizing and planning water system repairs and routine maintenance.
* Oversee the Water Utility Workers and Equipment Operator II's on the job site daily to ensure work is done in a timely manner and with good workmanship.
* Monitor subordinates for City and Utility policy adherence and personal conduct.
* Continuously review work sites to ensure a safe working environment exists that complies with OSHA standards.

* Call in and order concrete, asphalt, and slurry backfill.
* Oversee and direct the WUWs on job site to ensure work is done in a timely manner and with good workmanship.
Record Keeping
* Keep electronic and paper records of jobs (scheduled, in-progress, and completed).

* Document labor and materials used for the job, take GPS shots of maintenance items and other work completed. Track and document material inventory.
* Complete incident forms as necessary for employee injuries or vehicle accidents.
Distribution System Repairs
* Tap new services for utility and outside contractors, repair water main breaks and leaky services, repair and replace fire hydrants, install new water services, repair and replace main line valves.

Equipment Operator
* Operate various heavy equipment to complete job tasks as necessary.

Restoration
* Complete site restoration after repair work is completed.
* Prepare site for asphalt paving. Set up concrete; forms, reinforcing steel, and expansion joints.
* Order, pour, and finish concrete for concrete curb and gutter, roadways, driveway approaches, sidewalk, and wheelchair ramps.
* Complete landscape restoration by spreading topsoil, seed, fertilizer and hydro-mulch to facilitate growth.
Distribution System Maintenance
* Flush hydrants to improve water quality, main line valve exercising, hydrant exercising and maintenance, adjust valve boxes.
* Take water quality samples during flushing operations to ensure quality water (chlorine/turbidity).
Off shift On-Call Leader / Emergency Response 24/7/365
* Participate in the on-call rotation to receive and manage after-hour emergency situations related to meter/customer service issues as well as distribution system issues.
* Diagnose issues and take immediate action to resolve them.
* Call diggers hotline for locations and assemble emergency crew to make repairs.
* Respond to after-hour emergency situations as necessary. These situations may include frozen services, low pressure problems, plugged meter, water service leak, or emergency internal plumbing issues.
Roughly 5 weeks per year when/if fully staffed.
60% response rate is required.
Confined Space Entry
* Enter confined spaces to perform necessary work.
* Note: Must be properly trained in entry procedures and the use of proper safety equipment. May assume the responsibility of the entrant, attendant, entry supervisor, or standby person.
Repair other Underground Infrastructure
* Repair other underground infrastructure such as storm sewer and sanitary as necessary when completing repairs of water infrastructure.
Snow Removal
* Assist MSC and the water utility as needed during large snow events. Clear parking lots, storage areas, well and pump sights, and roadways.
Requirements include:
* 4 - 5 years experience with utility construction/repairs with 2 years of supervisory experience.
* Heavy equipment experience preferred.
* Working knowledge of the tools, methods, and materials commonly used in public works and water facility maintenance activities.
* Possession of a valid Wisconsin Commercial "Class A" Driver's License without air brakes restriction and with tanker endorsement.
* Graduation from high school or equivalent.
* 1 year certificate in utility construction and/or leadership training.
* Trained in Competent Person, Confined Space Entry.
* Possess Wisconsin DNR Water Distribution Certificate.
* Completion of continuing education (18 hours every 3 years).

A list of completed projects will be requested prior to an interview.
Qualifications/Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; preference will be given to candidates with additional vocational training or certification in carpentry or construction management.
Ten (10) to 15 years of experience at a construction company, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Strong knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and safety practices particularly in steel and wood stud settings.
Proficiency in reading blueprints, drawings, and construction documents.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.

Ability to work efficiently under pressure, as a team, to meet tight deadlines.
