Inspects, cleans and performs routine maintenance work on trucks and heavy equipment; identifies and reports mechanical problems and damage. Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and various construction and maintenance equipment, including but not limited to a chain saw, weed eater, dump truck, backhoe, skid steer loader, front end loader, mini excavator, large area mowers, tractors, shredder, and equipment haul truck in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures. Assists with coordination of work crews performing activities according to work schedule; monitors task completion; assures that all safety rules and regulations are observed. Hauls materials, and transports vehicles and equipment to job sites using various trucks. Loads and unloads materials using power equipment. Performs skilled and semiskilled construction, maintenance, and repair work on all City owned facilities and properties as directed. Completes daily logs and ensures assigned team members complete required paperwork and reports as required. Performs tasks in the interest of public safety and property protection during emergencies. Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed. Recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries. Train staff on operating heavy equipment. Read and comprehend blueprints/plans. Supervise and direct the work crew on a regular basis and in absence of the Foreman. Provides customer service and explains City programs and procedures to the general public. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role: Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED equivalent, AND three (3) years work experience operating specialized vehicles and heavy equipment; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
