Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Carries out specialized assignments such as tree falling, backfire and burnout, mobile and stationary engine attack, construction of helispots, specialized helitack operations and hover hookups.
Serves as a skilled firefighter and working crew leader on an organized crew during prescribed burns, monitoring and controlling the fire, and collecting data on fire weather and behavior.
Performs project work such as fuel inventory and hazard fuel reduction projects.
Participates in fire and safety training in the techniques, practices and methods of fire suppression and in the safe, efficient operation and use of tools, equipment and vehicles used in fire line activities.
Cleans, maintains, reconditions and stores tools and equipment, and inventories fore supplies and equipment.
Services and makes minor repairs to truck engine, inspects, checks and services accessories such as pump, waterlines, tank, reel or pump power plant, and keeps in fire readiness.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Ability to lead a fire suppression/fuels treatment/emergency stabilization, module and provide on the job training in proper and safe techniques applications, methods, procedures and principles.
Knowledge of wild land fire, prescribed fire management, emergency stabilization techniques, methods and conditions in order to provide instruction to crew members, and accurately analyze complex fire and project work circumstances.
Technical firefighting knowledge such as, but not limited to, fire engine and pump operations, chainsaw usage and repair, hand crew operations sufficient to function in assigned capacities and to instruct or lead others.
General knowledge of monitoring practices utilizing photo plots, fuel loading measurements and seedling quality assurance.
Skill in written and verbal communication sufficient to effectively interact with people at all levels, internal and external to the organization.
The tribal equivalent of the GS-06 requires one year of specialized experience at the GS-05 level and the incumbent is required to be red-carded as-Single Resource Boss CRWB, incident Commander Type 5-ICT5, Faller B-FALB at full performance.
Tribal equivalent of the GS-05 requires one year of specialized experience at the GS-04 level.

Minimum Qualifications:

About this Role
FiberTel is looking for an Aerial Foreman for our Albuquerque, NM location.
The Aerial Foreman position will oversee a crew of employees depending on job type and size. This position will coordinate with the Field Supervisor on lining out daily jobs. She/he will oversee installations, ordering and gathering equipment, supplies, materials, and tools, assess install sites, and prepare install diagrams. The Foreman will teach, and train employees assigned to their crew. This position will guarantee that all safety protocols are followed, and crew members wear proper PPE.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Construction Laborer must understand the practices, techniques and technologies required in the work they are performing. A significant portion of time will be spent moving about the resort, which has uneven gravel and dirt roads.
Responsibilities
Perform a variety of routine and specialized construction tasks, troubleshooting, making minor and major repairs and new construction, including but not limited to any or all of the following:
New construction infrastructure
Building foundations and slabs
Installing electrical light fixtures, switches, and receptacles, exhaust fans, ceiling fans, water heaters and other appliances, within abilities.
Installing windows and doors, door track mechanisms, hardware, check and repair locks, repair hinges, patch drywall, etc.
Plastering, fence building, floor, ceiling, and wall repairs.
Major and minor roof repairs when Maintenance Department needs assistance.
Ensure that buildings and equipment are maintained in a safe, clean and orderly condition, in accordance with health and fire regulations and as directed by Supervisor or Project Manager.
Report unusual conditions and situations which may endanger mechanical functions or operations of the Resort to Project Supervisor or Project Manager.
Maintain hand and power tools in working condition.

Qualifications
General knowledge of the tools, methods and materials used in building construction work; resort or hotel building/maintenance experience a plus.
Ability to use a variety of hand tools and equipment, measure distance and calculate quantities, and read blueprints.
Specialized repair abilities or experience in some of the following areas preferred: general carpentry, plumbing, plastering, electrical, concrete work, tile work and painting.
Good driving record. Ability to pass drivers background check. Ability to operate light to heavy machinery, vehicles, and equipment.
High school diploma (or equivalent skills and experience).
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, receive and give instructions, and prepare work orders and reports, including via the use of a computer or other device.
Must have reliable transportation; reliability and punctuality are critical.
Ability to walk or stand and move about the resort (both indoors and outdoors) for eight or more hours per day, move on and climb a ladder, sit, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Duties & Responsibilities
* Perform field measurements and assessments of forest resources and ecological indicators, including data recording and quality control/ quality assurance. Work is often performed in remote locations over difficult terrain, and overnight travel is required.
* Assist crew leads in crew preparation, management, and accomplishment of field tasks. Fill in for crew leads in their absence in the field and/or office settings.
* Perform computer entry of field data including using FFI, Microsoft Excel, Access, or other database software with attention to detail and quality control, including working with complex historic datasets.
* Generate summary reports of field data; work with NMFWRI staff to produce products to communicate results and management implications to partners.
* Perform field mapping of project sites using Global Positioning System and Geographic Information Systems technologies.
* Work with NMFWRI staff and NMHU faculty to conduct training and presentations related to forest measurement, treatment, analysis techniques, restoration methods, and more. * Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of NMFWRI equipment, including basic vehicle maintenance. Utilize an asset management system to handle check in/check out and inventory of equipment for fieldwork and events.
* Participate in the accomplishment of forest and watershed restoration treatments and related trainings as part of professional development.
* Maintain regular attendance and clear communication with supervisors and colleagues in office, field, and online working environments.
* In-person attendance at NMFWRI and SWERI staff meetings and functions, when permitted by field schedule.
* Earn and maintain Wilderness First Aid or higher once hired; earn and maintain FFT2 qualifications/ eligibility for a red card once hired.
* Assist with education and outreach initiatives of NMFWRI, including cross-program support.
