Summary Description:
Under the direction of the Project Administrator, the Transitional Work Crew Trainer is responsible for the oversite of transitional work crew trainees while they are performing program task. The Transitional Work Crew Trainer also oversees the training of trainees in daily tasks, safety programs, and other necessary training as needed.
Representative Duties:
The following duties are typical for this classification.
* Inspects and prepares transportation vehicles for daily operation requirements, perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, and completes required documentation to report any damage or defects of vehicles and associated equipment when applicable. Diagnose and make minor repairs to equipment/vehicles to ensure they are in proper working condition.
* May operate commercial vans with trailer, and maneuvers in difficult spaces and under challenging weather conditions. Operate hand-free mobile phones or communications radios.
* Assists the Project Administrator by completing the weekly work schedules and work reports for work crew trainees. Assist the Project Administrator with providing daily work sites, training, and tools to utilize for assignments.
* Responsible for monitoring, in-field training, and supervising work crew activities. Takes appropriate action to eliminate unsafe or dangerous conditions in accordance with established guidelines, effectively identifies training needs, and ensures that all necessary job-related instruction is provided to staff in a timely manner. May assist in demonstrating and training on job-related safety measures and work environment.
* Responsible for training work crew on heat and illness prevention, code of safe operating practices, Cal Trans traffic management, Cal Trans protection of workers, safety tailgate meetings, and other various trainings as assigned.
* Responsible for record-keeping and filing activities, collects work performance and program operations data, and prepares reports.
* Assigns and accounts for tools, materials, and equipment issued to program trainees for daily work projects. Prepares and maintains daily employment activity documentation.
* Responsible for monitoring and ensuring work crew compliance with projects and other work activities as assigned. Ensures participants are properly accounted for prior to and during transition between work sites when applicable.
* Complies with occupational safety standards in the performance and supervision of work by program work crews to complete work assignments. When we began this project, our ‘slogan' was “Help Save the Plaza Theatre” but now that the restoration is in progress, we're focusing on the finish line, and are now saying “Help REOPEN the Plaza Theatre.” The restoration project is well underway. Woodcliff Construction of Los Angeles has been working on comprehensive renovation of the historic building since March, 2024. The restoration work will take approximately one year to complete, allowing the Plaza Theatre to open in late 2025.
The Palm Springs Plaza Theatre will once again become a major economic driver for the City, generating millions in economic activity by bringing hundreds of visitors and locals per week to the downtown to see quality entertainment. The Foundation has partnered with Oak View Group to bring diverse high-quality programming. When restored, the Plaza Theatre will be the only place available for the entire community to come together and utilize it as an affordable community venue showcasing diverse programming for all people, local youth organizations, promoting multicultural programming in film, music, live theater, education, comedy, and entertainment for all.
Responsibilities
Assist with load-in, setup, and strike of productions and events.
Operate and/or assist with lighting, sound, projection, and stage equipment during rehearsals and performances.
Maintain backstage areas, tools, and equipment in safe and working conditions.
Follow cues and instructions from stage management and technical directors.
Uphold safety protocols and support a clean, organized workspace.
Provide friendly and professional support to visiting artists and production teams.
Report to and assist the technical crew leads and event staff during event operation and rehearsals.

· Perform all food preparation and station duties including beverages, operating the grill, fry and/or steam stations, cashier and janitorial duties according to Company standards
