Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in a fast-paced retail food service environment and requires adherence to all safety and sanitation standards. The position involves frequent exposure to noise, heat, odors, and wet or slippery surfaces. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to:
* Stand and walk for extended periods, often the majority of the work shift.

Your Impact:
As part of the Appleton Farms crew, you'll work the land at one of the oldest continually operating farms in the country and contribute to growing vegetables using organic practices on 35 acres for a 650-member summer CSA and 200-member winter CSA. You'll be part of a team-oriented farm focused on soil health, efficient systems, and high-quality production on a 1000-acre property featuring a grass-fed beef operation, education and public programs, and beautiful grassland and forest trails.
The Role:
The Farm Crew position is a seasonal position with a variable work schedule. This individual works in aspects of organic vegetable production for summer and winter CSAs and wholesale accounts. These responsibilities include greenhouse and high tunnel production, field operations, vegetable harvest, and wash and pack. The farm crew is trained in farm systems and has an opportunity to learn organic and regenerative practices for vegetable production. There are full-time and part-time positions available.
Specifically, you'll:
Work directly with the farm manager, assistant manager, and other farm crew
Implement the crop plan and aspects of production: greenhouse and high tunnel work, field transplanting, weed control, harvest, CSA distribution, and general farm maintenance projects. Please note that the CSA farm crew does not work in livestock operations.
Learn farm systems and strive for efficiency
There is an opportunity to take on additional responsibility over the season for full-time staff, such as leading harvests or managing a production arena
Interested crew members may have an opportunity to be trained in the safe operation and maintenance of one of our tractors and its implements
Farming experience is not required. Applicants with farm experience must be open-minded and interested in relearning skills to fit our systems
Work Schedule
Part-time:
May/June through September/Oct
Schedule is somewhat flexible, working 25-30 hours/week. Must be able to start at 7am at least two mornings/week.
This is a variable hour, limited term position reporting directly to the Field Crop Manager.

Overview
The Ice Crew member performs snow cleanup during TV timeouts for UMass Lowell and Boston Fleet Hockey games at the Tsongas Center. Ice Crew members must be avid skaters. Will assist with goal net handling and ice repairs as directed by Game Day Operations Manager.
This role pays an hourly rate of $18.75.

Responsibilities
FUNCTIONS (including, but not limited to):
Performs snow cleanup during timeouts for UMass Lowell and Fleet hockey games
Ensures a clean and safe ice surface for UMass Lowell and Fleet hockey games
Acts as representative for the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell to the general public, must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of game day protocols and procedures
Deals knowledgably, pleasantly and professionally with the other crew
Responsible for keeping game running smoothly and on time
Arrives early and stays late to assist with game prep and breakdown
Performs other duties as requested by supervisors or management
Must have an above average ice skating ability - experienced hockey players and figure skaters preferred
Must be extremely punctual. Must be able to follow procedures and work under pressure
Must be able move very quickly to perform snow removal in the small time windows during breaks
Must be constantly alert and ready to move at a seconds notice
Must be confortable in a loud and crowded environment
Ideally understands general rules of the sport of ice hockey
Qualifications
