We are currently seeking a contingent Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA). This position is responsible for providing support, reassurance, and counseling to patients. Counselor Assistants are responsible for completing admissions, discharges, facilitating/leading group sessions, and initiating individual discussions, as well as patient supervision and observation. Counselor Assistants also must be able to perform the OCDPB Twelve Core Functions and Competencies (including screening, intake, orientation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling, case management, crisis intervention, client education, referral, consultation, and reports/record keeping) under the supervision of a licensed independent chemical dependency counselor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide ongoing support of patients' individual recovery processes.
Provide quality chemical dependency treatment according to program and agency requirements.
Use appropriate motivational techniques to engage patients in successfully completing their treatment.
Maintain a healthy environment that will promote the recovery process.
Provide basic chemical dependency education, counseling and case management, that consistently directs patients toward achieving full recovery (i.e., disease of addiction, blackouts, withdrawal, effects on self and others, triggers, relapse process and prevention).
Supervise all patient activities, providing group as required by curriculum under the appropriate level of supervision.
Maintain case records and reports accurately and completely.
Communicate and cooperate with peers and medical staff to ensure quality patient care.
Practice courtesy and professionalism with patients, staff and other departments.
Adhere to and practice the OCDPB'S Code of Ethics for Chemical Dependency Professionals, both in the workplace and in the community.

Must have excellent communication skills and be able to function well as a team member.

Qualifications
Licensed in the state of Ohio to provide assessment and therapy via the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board, or the Ohio Board of Psychology. Must possess at least a Master's Degree(s) in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work.
