An employer is looking for highly skilled Online Crisis Chat Supervisors & Counselors to join a growing team for a hybrid opportunity in Columbia, Maryland.
As a Supervisor, you will be managing up to 4 digital Crisis Counselors, assisting with escalation, training help and providing any resources they may need. This is a high communication role, with an emphasis on quality assurance.
As a Counselor, you will be responsible for providing online emotional support to individuals utilizing Crisis Chat and Text services including emotional support and resources to all contacts. This includes online communication via email and chat, no phone work is required in this role.
In both roles, you will receive approximately 48 hours of training related to active listening skills, suicide prevention practices, and utilization of agency resources.
This role is a permanent, direct hire opportunity.
Supervisor Shifts: ($28-32/hr.) Hybrid 2 days a week onsite
10 am to 6 pm, Saturday to Wednesday
6 pm to 2 am, Tuesday to Saturday
Counselor Shifts: ($24-27/hr.) Hybrid 2 days a month onsite
6 am to 2 am, Sunday to Thursday
6 pm to 2 am, Wednesday to Sunday
2 am to 10 pm, Sunday to Thursday
6 pm to 2 am, Saturday to Wednesday
Training Schedule:
Week 1: Virtual Training (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm)
Week 2 - 4: Onsite training (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm)
Weeks 5 - 6: Onsite training Mon-Fri during shift hours

Compensation:
At Talkspace, we believe in pay transparency. You will be reimbursed $67.90 per hour for live sessions. Rates for shorter live sessions (30- and 45-minute sessions) are prorated. Additionally, asynchronous messaging rates fluctuate depending on client plans, but reimbursement rates range between $12-$36. Finally, we offer a monthly bonus ($100-$4,000) based on the average number of clinical hours spent with clients on the platform per week, with eligibility starting at 3 weekly hours of client engagement.

We are looking for mental health clinicians who are interested in doing same day or next day care and time-limited care with clients of all ages, urgency, and presentations and who are enthusiastic about working in a multidisciplinary, community outpatient setting.

Position Overview

Complete appropriate documentation simultaneously during call in accordance with established policies and procedures. This position handles a high volume of calls, the calls come in continuously and Counselors are required to keep pace with the demands of the calls with minimal downtime in between calls. The ability to switch between tasks and programs on the computer, while assisting callers is required.
Essential Duties
· Answer all calls within response guidelines and using the crisis call center's policies, procedures, and scripts necessary for screening of service requests.
· Provide telephonic crisis intervention services, assessment, and referral.
· Tolerate high stress, high-risk situations in a fast-paced environment autonomously.
· Using counseling techniques like motivational interviewing, active engagement, collaborative problem solving, and good contact, help calls identify and resolve personal, social, and interpersonal concerns.
· Factoring in the caller's circumstances, history, support, internal and external resources, and level of risk, make referrals and or link the caller to the appropriate service or information using established protocols.
· Depending on the risk level, determine appropriate linkage and referral which can range from information only to active rescue and dispatch of EMS and law enforcement.
· Actively collaborate with designated shift supervisors as needed.
· Complete appropriate, timely, and accurate documentation in accordance with established criteria and call center metrics (KPI's).
· Adhere to established standards/guidelines for efficiency and productivity.
· Actively facilitate placement from initial contact until final disposition or until successfully and appropriately delegated to another staff member.
· Provide linkage follow-up as directed to assure individual accessed services.
· Train, coach, and develop new hires as assigned.
· Maintain job knowledge and adhere to the company and American Association of Suicidology Code of Ethics.
· Maintain a HIPAA compliant workspace (both auditory and visual privacy) at home that meets all company regulations.

* Clinical Services * Federal JOB DESCRIPTION Must hold an independent license such as LPC, LCSW, LMFT This position has the primary responsibility of providing the full breadth of Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB) counseling services to children of all ages of military service members and their families at military installations to include civilian expeditionary work force and their families (when activated). These services may include non-medical counseling, training/health and wellness presentations, consultation with parents, personnel at child development centers, and consultation to installation command regarding behavioral health issues affecting children and youth. CYB counselors will be assigned to child development centers, youth programs, summer camps, and on demand assignments. The counselors work closely with the installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to assure that the program is provided within scope and meets the needs of the installation.
* Provides non-medical, short-term, solution focused counseling directly to eligible children and youth of service members at assigned primary and secondary locations. Services include assessment, brief counseling and consultation, action planning, referral to resources (assuring linkage as appropriate), and follow-up as indicated.
* CYB counselors will also have a focus on supporting the staff and personnel of Child Development Centers (CDC), youth programs and summer camps (if available/assigned) as well as providing parent support, training, and guidance.
* Provides training and health and wellness presentations, participate in health fairs and other base/installation activities focused on children and youth.
* Enters counselor activity data daily through smart phone or web application to assure that reporting is accurate from assigned installation while maintaining confidentiality and anonymity of service/family member.
* Establishes and maintains working relationships with community resources focused on children and youth and provides appropriate linkages. Consistently visible within the assigned location(s) which allows MFLC services to be accessible. When working with children, counselor must abide by line-of-sight protocol. (Another adult with responsibility for the child must be able to see the counselor and child they are working with at all times.)
* Partners with POC to provide CYB services in a manner that addresses the needs of the installation/facility. Develops an effective and professional working relationship with the installation/facility POC.
* Manages duty to warn and restricted reporting situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol and staffs the cases with Regional Supervisor/Regional Director.
* Communicates with Regional Supervisors and participates in regular individual and group supervision, sharing information regarding trends and issues on the installations and in facilities to which the counselor is assigned. Responds to critical incidents and special requests as directed by the POC and approved by the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) program manager. The CYB will flex schedule to respond to urgent requests as needed or at the request of the Regional Supervisor/Regional Director.
* Participates in regular in-services/training, Quality Improvement committees, initiatives, studies, pilot programs other contract activities as assigned/appropriate as directed by the customer and/or Magellan. This includes participation in pilot program certification and training processes, completion of activity documentation, integration of pilot activities in non-medical counseling work, and the utilization of applicable technology to complete required activities.

The Crisis Receiving/Crisis Stabilization Unit (CRCSW) Crisis Counselor II/III provides assessment and clinical support to people seeking crisis intervention services in the Crisis Receiving Center, Residential Crisis Stabilization Unit, or in the community via mobile services. Provides clinical assessments and diagnosis of individuals displaying acute signs and symptoms of psychological distress. Formulate, write, and implement clinical and diagnostic plans related to the needs of the individual. Facilitate individual and group counseling to those served in accordance with program requirements and clinical needs of the individual. Manages acute distress, rapid assessment, and provides effective communication and coordination of services among multiple systems. Coordinates appropriate services and interventions in order to stabilize the individual in the least restrictive manner. Serves as part of an interdisciplinary team to ensure service coordination to assist people served to live and function optimally in the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide individual, group, or family counseling services to people served that meet the criteria for admission to the Residential Crisis Stabilization Unit or any of the programs in the Agency's Crisis Continuum of Services as appropriate.
Within three months of hire, obtain certification as a Mandated Prescreener as defined by DBHDS standards and assist in managing the ECO/TDO processes at the Crisis Receiving Center, Residential Crisis Stabilization Unit, as well in as the Emergency Department or other community setting as appropriate. Attend court hearings as Agency designee and complete required reports. Conduct re-commitment screenings or Mandatory Outpatient Treatment (MOT) initial treatment plans as assigned by the Team Lead or Director. Complete supervision and continuing education requirements on an annual basis to maintain certification.
Assist individuals with crisis resolution and general problem-solving skills. Develop effective and measurable individualized service plans for crisis stabilization and crisis intervention to assist in diverting individuals served from hospitalization. Monitor the plan to ensure services are provided as requested and make adaptations to the plan as needed, based on the person's progress.
Respond in a timely manner to people receiving services, their families, and representatives of multiple systems by providing and gathering necessary information, as appropriate. Interact with people served and community partners in a professional manner, maintaining communication and appropriate boundaries that support effective collaboration. Promote positive communication and collaboration among team members and other community resources needed to provide quality services. Serve on designated teams, committees and work groups as requested.
Demonstrate sound clinical judgement in evaluations and ensure appropriate follow-up as determined by the needs of the person served. Staff cases with leadership personnel as appropriate and provide staffing consultation to others as requested. Serve as a member of the agency's internal CISM team and provide emergency assistance (debriefings) to agency and community support staff.
Assist with items required for the insurance authorization review process including but not limited to the data platform provided by DBHDS, service registrations, requests for authorization, and continued stay requests. Initiate the appeal process if denials are obtained. Work with crisis team to obtain necessary clinical information for submission of requests in a timely manner to ensure approval.
Meet productivity standards for services provided. Document all required elements in the electronic health record (EHR) at the conclusion of the crisis service. Ensure that individual records are in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal requirements including guidelines as they pertain to DBHDS Licensure Regulations, Waiver, State Plan and Clinic Options Medicaid. Complete administrative and other paperwork as required.

Assist with allocation/management of SUD funding, if applicable.
