Job Summary
The City of Woodstock is accepting applications for a seasonal School Crossing Guard with the Woodstock Police Department immediately as a relief Crossing Guard position with the possibility of an assigned location for the 2021-2022 school year. The Crossing Guard staff is responsible for seven (7) dedicated school crossings within the City of Woodstock, providing for the safe transit of our community's children to and from school. Crossing Guards work Monday – Friday at a designated crossing location during the school year. Most positions are scheduled in two shifts: 1.5 hours in the early morning and 2 hours mid-afternoon. This position will have the following assigned crossing location and shift times:

Minimum Qualifications

Turns on flashing caution lights along main road to warn motorists of students crossing the road; sets up orange cones in the road by the cross walk; slows down, stops and directs traffic according to established traffic control procedures; directs traffic to stop while students cross the street; insures students are safely across the road; directs traffic to continue.
Performs the duty of crossing guard during the morning, lunch hour and after school everyday while school is in session; instructs students on proper safety procedures and precautions.
Insures proper maintenance of equipment; replaces old or worn equipment as necessary.
Informs police department of any problems; requests needed supplies; insures payroll time sheets are submitted promptly and accurately.
Communicates with officers, dispatch and the police station by hand-held radio as needed to report incidents requiring police action.
Performs related duties as required.

This posting is for the 2022-2023 school year which begins on August 13, 2022.
Job Responsibilities
As children arrive, take them safely across the street, watching traffic closely and stopping cars if necessary.
When children are finished crossing, remove cones from street and turn off the 20 MPH flashing lights.
Process is repeated twice daily when children travel to and from school. May also be required to perform duties mid-day to safely see to the needs of kindergarten aged children attending school for ½ day.
Must be able to see, hear and quickly and accurately respond to emergency safety situations.
Regular and prompt attendance is essential.
May also be required to participate in special events as asked by school administrators, PTA and/or the police department.
Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Must be a high school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. Must possess a valid Utah Driver License. Related experience helpful but not required. Candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and a criminal background check.
