Location: This position will support CROWN Food Division customers in the Northeastern United States and Eastern Canada.
Position Overview:
This position will support metal packaging customers of the CROWN North American Food Division in the Northeast United States and Canada. This position is a field technical service representative who will spend the majority of their time traveling to customer facilities to troubleshoot processes, investigate product quality issues, and conduct trials in a food manufacturing environment. In this role, one will serve as the primary technical contact for customers and will be the liaison among customers, Crown Sales, R&D, Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing.
Job Responsibilities:
* Providing problem-solving leadership on technical and quality matters relating to food can and end performance
* Managing the overall technical interface between the Food Division and their customers
* Support customers in all technical aspects of the business including current packages and new package development
* Develop and manage technical meetings between the Company and customers to discuss ideas, issues, and solutions
* Interact directly with customer and internal manufacturing operations
* Partner with the Company's Sales, R&D, Engineering, and Manufacturing divisions to develop strategies and action plans for both current customers and potential new customers
* Extensive travel (Up to 80%) will be required to service customer needs
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate would possess the following attributes:
* BA/BS degree in Food Science, Engineering, Packaging or a related discipline
* 2+ years in a packaging manufacturing environment, food production or a similar industry.
* Experience interfacing with customers in a technical capacity: field testing, qualification trials, claims management, etc.
* Experience with double seaming technology, various food canning equipment, and troubleshooting associated problems is highly preferred but not required.
* Effective communication skills are needed for this role, both verbal and written, as well as the ability to interact with customers and employees at all levels of the organization.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects to completion
* Self-motivated and eager to take the initiative, with the ability to work effectively in a team setting and as an individual
* Well organized and detail oriented with good time management skills
* Strong PC skills are a must, especially using Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Position Summary:

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for a 24 x 7 operation at our Richmond, VA plant housing 12 Extrusion machines, 12 Bag Machines, Printing Presses, and all secondary and support equipment. This position requires hands on proactive leadership, strategic direction, and technical support to the operations of the facility including preventive/predictive maintenance, automation, process, and cost improvement.
* Responsible for overseeing 24 x 7 maintenance team who maintain all electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical functions of all major and auxiliary equipment.
* Partner closely with the Operations Managers and assign the proper personnel to troubleshoot and repair for efficient and continuous operations.
* Analyze, implement, and track preventative maintenance programs for the entire facility, including an inventory system for parts and supplies.
* Develop annual budgets and successfully deliver results.
* Initiate and manage large capital projects for timeliness and budget adherence.
* Develop mid and long-range plans to improve machine uptime, reliability and OEE.
* Develop and execute routine preventative maintenance program for all assets on our campus. This will be accomplished utilizing both internal and external resources.
* Manage outside subcontractors and resources as needed.
* Develop mid and long-term succession plan regarding replacement of major equipment.
* Manage all interior and exterior support systems within the facilities including HVAC, fire alarms, electrical, plumbing and security utilizing internal and external resources.
* Provide leadership, training, mentoring and direction to the maintenance personnel. Inspire high performance through effective goal setting and performance measurement.
* Design, implement and institutionalize "best practice" quick change procedures, processes, and equipment modifications (SMED).
* Responsible for the continuous reduction in waste, downtime, setup/make ready, and cost.
* Establish a collaborative working relationship with partnering operations teams and respective business units.
* Initiate, write, manage, and lead the process for capital expenses.
* Construct, evaluate and report maintenance and engineering results for the facility.
* Key member of the audit team to prepare the facility for multiple annual customer audits.

Duties And Responsibilities:
This position will trouble-shoot, repair, adjust and maintain all related equipment involved with running production at this high-speed state-of-the-art metal packaging manufacturing facility. Equipment would include cuppers, body makers, washers, spray equipment, neckers and flangers as well as other production machinery. This position will also develop standard operating procedures; provide training for equipment operation and reinforce all safety procedures.

Minimum Requirements
5+ years working experience in a manufacturing setting
Strong proven working experience in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting skills and equipment re-build expertise are required for these roles.
Experience in using controls and settings on high-speed automated equipment.
High competency in the use of micrometers, calipers and related equipment.
Strong math and computer skills.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics and parts specifications.
Effective and proven communication skills working in a team environment.
The ability to travel domestically for training within the first one or two months with the Company.
