Here is your opportunity to help on the Dayton team that manufactures millions of beverage can ends per day. The Electrician/General Plant Maintenance duties include: * Troubleshoots equipment stoppages and reacts accordingly * Participates in routine preventative/predictable maintenance and performs routine checks * Assists manufacturing during product change-overs * Utilizes various mechanical and electrical test equipment * Monitors and reacts in a timely manner to routine demand maintenance requirements Job Requirements * Associates degree in a technology/industrial/ manufacturing preferred (or equivalent experience) * 3-5 years practical hands on experience in an industrial setting * Knowledge on Allen Bradley PLC's, Vision and other complex automation systems. Robotics is a plus. * Experience with high pressure hydraulics, pneumatics, and automated material handling utilizing 480vac VFD's and PLC control logic troubleshooting * Good mechanical aptitude * Ability to work with minimal supervision * Able to read, interpret blueprints on manufacturing equipment. Roles and Responsibilities As an Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to make an impact by: * Promoting safety as the most important value in the organization by contributing through training, process improvement and other environmental, health, and safety responsibilities * Documenting standard processes and procedures for implementation and training * Developing and implementing production/processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most cost efficient manner. * Providing support to manufacturing to resolve production and quality issues that arise on a day-to-day basis * Working with machine repair team members to analyze root cause and define corrective actions for future preventive maintenance * Conducting technical inspections of complex machines * Recommending and implementing improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters * Evaluating and approving design changes, specifications and drawing releases * Partnering with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to develop and execute projects that are a part of the Identifications Enterprise Lean Sigma journey * Managing special projects; which could include supplier relationships, production performance management, sustainability, and other ad hoc projects * Setting project schedules by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and solving problems * Defining requirements for new equipment validation run-off * Preparing new machines and production equipment for operation * Optimizing direct and indirect manufacturing labor and in-plant material flow through the use of industrial engineering methods including line balancing, time studies, as well as both in-plant and external material flow * Designing and planning equipment layouts To set you up for success in this role, Avery Dennison requires the following qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in related field (Engineering, Mechanical/Industrial) or 2-4 years of experience in an engineering function in a manufacturing environment * Knowledgeable in Electronic Systems (wire diagrams, schematics, PLC logic .. ect.) * Knowledgeable in Mechanical Systems (Cams, Torque requirements, ect.) * Excellent math and analytical skills * Excellent communication and organization skills with an emphasis on detail * Understanding of process documentation and improvement * Proficiency with applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office and Google Apps (mail, docs, sheets, slides, forms) Additional qualifications that could help you succeed in this role are as follows: * Working experience in Oracle E-Business Suite R12 * Proficient creating 3D models and 2D prints using Solidworks or related CAD software. * Proficient in AutoCAD 2D for facility layout planning * High-energy, self-directed, self-starter * Ability to execute multiple projects with minimal supervision * Ability to work comfortably in a dynamic, fast-paced, and matrixed organization * Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or other protected status.
