DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Changes, removes, dismantles, repairs, assembles, installs and adjusts a variety of equipment including dies, punches, rolls, curlers, liner, conveyor, sets oven temperature and monitors, post coater spraying unit, magazine, pumps, etc. Troubleshoots and corrects problem areas. Performs preventive maintenance and lubricates as required. Keeps machines loaded with stock and the presses running. Weighs compound on lid and has verified. Check cans, lids and tab assembly for specification such as diameter, height, thickness, etc., using instruments such as dial indicators, ring gauges, micrometers, pin gauges, prior to making production runs. Periodically rechecks during production runs. Performs dimensional checks. Works from prints, specification sheets, written and verbal instructions. Helps assist Packer Operator in pulling off defective product from line with hand jack or lift truck. Relieves Packer Operator. Completes required paperwork such as production logs, QA checks, scrap weight logs, etc. Performs all activity with safety of self and others as the number one concern. Performs general housekeeping and cleanup of the assigned work areas. Adheres to all safety, quality, and plant policies. Other duties as assigned by management. Requirements PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 3 - 5 years of prior work experience in a manufacturing environment, troubleshooting, repairing diagnosing various mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and/or electrical equipment or machines. Mechanical ability required. Basic computer skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The team member is frequently required to climb or balance and talk or hear. The team member is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. WORKING CONDITIONS: Generally, works in a plant environment but will be required to perform some job duties inside a typical office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the team member may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic. The team member may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures. The noise level is frequently loud. The Massillon plant and grounds are tobacco-free. This means that the use of tobacco of any kind will not be permitted anywhere in the building or on Crown property. This also includes prohibiting the use of any electronic cigarette devices.
