Summary of Responsibilities
Operate and control water treatment plant machines and equipment to process an adequate supply of safe potable water to Del-Co Water customers.
Essential Duties
Operators are required to complete duties to a degree of proficiency in-line with their licensure level.
Regularly monitor panel board and adjust controls to regulate flow rates, loss of head pressure and water elevation, and distribution of water.
Correctly adjust specified amounts of chemicals such as chlorine, fluoride, and lime into water or adjust automatic devices that admit specified amount of chemicals into tanks to disinfect, deodorize, and clarify water.
Start agitators to mix chemicals and allow impurities to settle to bottom of tank.
Monitor Distribution system and adjust flow rates to adequately maintain system operation.
Clean tanks and filter beds using backwashing (reverse flow of water) at scheduled intervals.
Start and stop chemical feed equipment as required.
Regulate valves and flow dials to maintain filter and pumpage rates.
Increase/decrease chemical feeding rates as required.
Adjust pumps and chemical feeding equipment as required.
Perform basic chemical tests: alkalinity, pH, chlorine, hardness, turbidity, and fluoride.
Accurately test water samples and follow standard titration procedures and record results in logs.
Perform routine maintenance in plant using hand and power tools.
Accept after-hour inquiries and facilitate a response by calling in necessary staff.
Manage water quality in the distribution system by maintaining effective trending of tanks.
Ability and knowledge to understand, troubleshoot, and resolve, a wide variety of water quality inquiries.

SUMMARY:
The primary duties of the PlantOperator consist of those jobs necessary, but not limited to, the operation and maintenance of pumping, and purification equipment, monitoring supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems and plant instruments, routine work on buildings and grounds and daily sampling and laboratory work. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Responsible for safe and effective startup, shutdown, operation, maintenance, and monitoring and/or control of all water treatment plant equipment and processes, to include plant generators and electrical controls and various distribution system equipment and processes.
Ensures that daily work complies with Ohio EPA and Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO regulatory requirements for operations. Ensures that daily work complies with all established company safety policies. Captures all work performed in Maintenance Connection, an asset management program, per Company policies.
Manually and/or via SCADA system, Operates, maintains, reads, interprets, and records as directed all instruments at the plant and at various remote locations. Makes necessary
adjustments to treatment processes and/or pumping to maintain water quality standards.
Works with Water Treatment Plant personnel to monitor and/or control SCADA
system for effective operation of the Water System. Reacts accordingly to various pumping schemes, main breaks, and operational changes and advises supervisors on potential emergencies.
Performs assigned lab testing (wet chemistry), and sampling as directed in accordance with Ohio EPA certification requirements.
Performs assigned inspections of water treatment plant apparatus and equipment as directed. Assists the Division Mechanic with routine and emergency maintenance of facilities as required.
Communicates records and maintains relevant information regarding treatment plantoperation and maintenance.
Performs housekeeping duties as assigned and assures the security of water utility structures and property.
Acts as liaison between customers and company during "off' hours; Answers and directs all after-hour customer inquiries to the appropriate personnel. Demonstrates effective communication skills and regularly addresses internal and external customer requirements and serves as the after-hours point of contact and dispatch for emergencies within the distribution system(s).

SUMMARY:
The primary duties of the PlantOperator consist of those jobs necessary, but not limited to, the operation and maintenance of pumping, and purification equipment, monitoring supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems and plant instruments, routine work on buildings and grounds and daily sampling and laboratory work. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
* Responsible for safe and effective startup, shutdown, operation, maintenance, and monitoring and/or control of all water treatment plant equipment and processes, to include plant generators and electrical controls and various distribution system equipment and processes.
* Ensures that daily work complies with Ohio EPA and Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO regulatory requirements for operations. Ensures that daily work complies with all established company safety policies. Captures all work performed in Maintenance Connection, an asset management program, per Company policies.
* Manually and/or via SCADA system, Operates, maintains, reads, interprets, and records as directed all instruments at the plant and at various remote locations. Makes necessary
* adjustments to treatment processes and/or pumping to maintain water quality standards.
* Works with Water Treatment Plant personnel to monitor and/or control SCADA
* system for effective operation of the Water System. Reacts accordingly to various pumping schemes, main breaks, and operational changes and advises supervisors on potential emergencies.
* Performs assigned lab testing (wet chemistry), and sampling as directed in accordance with Ohio EPA certification requirements.
* Performs assigned inspections of water treatment plant apparatus and equipment as directed. Assists the Division Mechanic with routine and emergency maintenance of facilities as required.
* Communicates records and maintains relevant information regarding treatment plantoperation and maintenance.
* Performs housekeeping duties as assigned and assures the security of water utility structures and property.
* Acts as liaison between customers and company during "off' hours; Answers and directs all after-hour customer inquiries to the appropriate personnel. Demonstrates effective communication skills and regularly addresses internal and external customer requirements and serves as the after-hours point of contact and dispatch for emergencies within the distribution system(s).

Role Overview:
