The successful candidate will obtain surveying experience in rural and urban communities throughout Alaska, performing boundary & subdivision plats, topographic, right-of-way, ALTA, Hydrographic, UAV Aerial, and Laser Scanning surveys. Will have the opportunity to work on many different types of projects, including road improvement, water and sewer, drainage and site improvement projects, restaurants, schools, power plants, bulk fuel, water treatment plants, airports, flood modeling, and riverine and coastal erosion. Utilizing Leica GPS, robotic, laser scanning surveying equipment, Leica & DJI drones, and Sonarmite DFX echosounder hydrographic equipment. We often use 4-wheelers, snow machines, and boats to perform our work. In the office, the work includes data reduction and mapping using Leica, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and Pix4D software. Utilize various software packages for drafting, spatial data analysis and adjustment, LiDAR data processing, and orthomosaic aerial imagery processing. Assist with planning and logistics for fieldwork. Perform property boundary research. Maintain tools and instruments used in the field. Travel for out-of-town work, sometimes with overnight stays. T This position will include opportunities for both field and office work. During the Alaskan winter it is primarily office based report writing mixed with GIS mapping tasks. During the summer it is a mixture of field and office work. Summer field work may involve potential helicopter, boat, ATV or vehicle travel up to two weeks at a time away from home. Field work is completed in teams with the senior environmental scientist serving as the technical lead. Logistics will be scheduled in advance to systematically progress required tasks. The position is a full-time, 12-month non-seasonal position, with regularly scheduled office hours in Anchorage, Fairbanks or Wasilla. Remote hybrid work will be considered.
