On January 19, 2022, Crystal announced it had suspended operations of all its cruise ships until April 2022 due to the insolvency of Genting Hong Kong.
Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity were subsequently arrested in Freeport, Bahamas on February 5, 2022.
On February 8, 2022, it was announced that Crystal's headquarters in the United States would be shutting down and employees would be let go by the end of the week.
