Main Purpose:
To perform job functions required and assigned in the fabrication of structural/piping materials per the contract/job specifications and quality assurance requirements/fitting procedures and established ISO/QC program standards. The Welder's job duties are to properly weld structure or pipe to construct a drilling deck. This position is located Offshore in the Gulf of America, formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico.
Essential Functions:
Set and operate welding machine for applicable welding processes
Perform welding processes assigned for structural, pipe, and welding projects
Pass required welding test per AWS D1.1 latest edition, ASME section IX, and API 1104
Maintain quality of welding that can pass NDT testing procedures
Perform welding assignments safely and efficiently, always practicing safety
Operate appropriate hand tools (chipping hammers, grinders, etc.)
Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, carbon steel, and other alloys
Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to welding chart specifications or any thickness of metals
Determine required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of welding techniques
Connect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure to obtain desired flames
Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking distortion, or expansion of the material
Expertly weld small, medium, and large structural and pipes of various metals and alloys
Expertly weld small, medium, and large structural items
Weld structure (beams, grating, stairways) and pipe
Assist with building a scaffold to access all areas on structure, pipe, or deck

* Must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose problems in systems, read and interpret online diagrams, electrical protection scheme, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and vendor service manuals.
Alarm Management:
* Managing alarm systems to minimize false alarms and ensure timely response to critical events.

Project support:
* Participate in major maintenance projects, including equipment overhauls and removal and replacement of major units and parts.

Documentation and Training:

* Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE
LEVEL OF POSITION WILL BE DETERMINED BY APPLICABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE.
Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:
* Five(5) plus years maintaining and updating Distributed Control System Hardware, Network, Data Historians, and Logic.
* Computer networking knowledge and experience with industrial data communication and transmission protocols
* Experience gained through college degree programs, trade school, related military service training programs, or technical training school programs.
* Knowledge of tuning control loops, calibrating field instruments, and Data Communications
* Strong understanding of industrial process control principles and concepts
* Expertise in DCS programming languages and software platforms
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
* Able to work Overtime and callouts when needed

Job Description
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Assist engineering tasks related to construction, cathodic protection (CP), coating inspection, dam safety, stream flow measurements, structural maintenance, flood monitoring and other engineering-related projects. May include but not limited to: Any project that engineering is involved in, such as pipeline integrity studies, surveying, and inspection of construction, to verify project requirements as set forth in the plans and technical specifications are being followed
Assist engineering field techs 2, 3, 4 in field work, such as CP data collection, coating inspection, stream flow measurement for gauge calibration at all District facilities and locations
Lead dam safety efforts associated with inspection, data collection, and instrumentation maintenance on all District dam and levee systems
Assist District personnel for special projects related to construction and maintenance of all District facilities and properties
Coordinates with Infrastructure Integrity Manager to QA and store CP data in GIS and SharePoint
Assist with construction inspection, quality assurance measures and witnessing of factory acceptance testing of major equipment
Assist with on-site distressed pipe analysis and rehabilitation/replacement recommendation; participate in forensics analysis of replaced pipe segments
Assist with engineering tasks related to construction, dam safety, stream flow measurements, structural maintenance, flood monitoring, and other engineering-related projects
Performs inspection, data collection, and instrumentation maintenance on all District dam and levee systems. Responsibilities include reading instrumentation, downloading/trending data preparing site visit condition reports, maintaining tools & equipment and processing data
Coordinate with Survey Personnel for Dam-Related Data Surveys
Work with Operations anode team on CP installation, testing and troubleshooting
Work with Operations dam and levee personnel on instrumentation issues, testing, and troubleshooting
Work with IPL construction team, inspectors and design teams on construction practices and testing
Work with coatings team on methods and testing
Document means and methods, including for data management functions
File and organize records within the department, including writing memos, documenting photos and documenting observations and as-built drawings to reflect current conditions
Maintain familiarity with strategic District levels of service
Continuous improvement monitoring and innovation efforts
Perform other duties as required
Required Experience:
Three (3) years related experience
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Desired Experience:

Confined space training
